Inclusion criteria
editI hope we can agree to only include notable people who have conducted a hunger strike and notable hunger strikes. --Ronz (talk) 19:33, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
- This is clear and unambiguous. Every entry currently has a corresponding article. See also WP:ONUS. FDW777 (talk) 13:11, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
- I hate my article being removed by user [[User:FDW777|FDW777] for ambigious reasons !! the hunger strike of Brussels was referenced, so I demand to be put back on the list. Tomaatje12 (talk) 13:16, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
- There are no ambiguous reasons. It's been explained several times that there needs to be a correspnding article before it is included here. FDW777 (talk) 13:17, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
- I disagree, that is a stupid rule and limits other strikes Tomaatje12 (talk) 13:19, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
- See WP:CSC. FDW777 (talk) 13:21, 25 October 2021 (UTC)

- I suggest you spend your time writing an article on it. FDW777 (talk) 18:55, 25 October 2021 (UTC)

For possible inclusion
editOf course, an article should be written first:

Group for Indian revolutionaries?
editShould, Bhagat Singh, Batukeshwar Dutt, Jatindra Nath Das be moved to a group, "Indian revolutionaries?" --Ronz (talk) 02:27, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
Bhagat_Singh#Hunger strike and Lahore conspiracy case suggests they can be grouped, so I've gone ahead. Is "Indian revolutionaries" an appropriate heading? --Ronz (talk) 03:05, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
I've asked for help at Talk:Bhagat Singh#Group of hunger strikers --Ronz (talk) 00:04, 19 January 2013 (UTC)
2017 Palestinian hunger strike
editI'm surprised there is no article on the hunger strike waged by Palestinians from April 17th until yesterday 77.96.105.241 (talk) 23:21, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
Erroneous entry?
editWhy does "1929 hunger strike" redirect to Guantanamo Bay hunger strikes? A scan of that article yields no connection to 1929.

- Thank you for starting a discussion.
- All entries are their own Wikipedia articles. Are there any entries that are not verified in their respective articles? --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 19:49, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- Per Wikipedia:Stand-alone_lists#Content_policies -- Being articles, stand-alone lists are subject to Wikipedia's content policies, such as verifiability, no original research, neutral point of view, and what Wikipedia is not, as well as the notability guidelines. Please also take some time to read WP:LISTVERIFY. Thanks! Right cite (talk) 19:54, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- You didn't answer the question, so I'm assuming all are verified in their respective articles.
- Glad you are digging through relevant PAGs. So you think the entries are not obvious when you check their respective articles? --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 20:04, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- No. Right cite (talk) 21:56, 5 November 2020 (UTC)

Isn't this you doing exactly what you asserted I was doing? How about refactoring and trying again? --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 22:32, 5 November 2020 (UTC)- Please refactor your bad faith assumptions. I am simply pointing out this page cites zero sources. Nothing more. Nothing less. Right cite (talk) 22:43, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- I'm happy to do so. Let me know on my talk page what you don't like about what I've written above. --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 22:56, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- Your assumptions are bad faith. I don't believe I have said anything of the sort. Perhaps this is your own reading of your own behavior about yourself. But it was not my meaning. Please don't assume into what I think. Right cite (talk) 22:59, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- You asked me to refactor, and I said I would if you'd just point them out on my talk page. Do you want me to refactor or not?

- Done. --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 23:10, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- I agree with Hipal, all have an own article. If a reference for such a list is needed you can also go through alumni lists of Universities. It would be very easy to just add references for each hunger strike mentioned checking at each article. There are other unreferenced lists such list of Kurds or so, which have no references as well. I guess if there is included a hunger strike without an own article, it would merit a reference.Paradise Chronicle (talk) 23:33, 5 November 2020 (UTC)

- Paradise Chronicle, please see WP:Wikipedia is not a reliable source, and also Circular sourcing, and specifically Neither articles on Wikipedia nor websites that mirror Wikipedia can be used as sources, because this is circular sourcing.. Right cite (talk) 11:55, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
- We're not using Wikipedia as a source.
- When the general consensus is unclear, it's helpful to ask for clarification on the relevant PAG talk pages. If you're in a rush, you can also look for relevant GA and FA articles to see what other editors have done and if the area of dispute was discussed. --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 16:22, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
- Sure, can you provide an example of a GA or FA "List" article with zero sources on the page please? Right cite (talk) 16:39, 6 November 2020 (UTC)

- List of medieval churches on Gotland is a great featured example. Nothing unsourced or uncited on the entire page. And certainly nothing sourced to Wikipedia itself, which this page is currently doing by default of having no sources and only "bluelinks" as sources, which is absolutely ludicrous. Right cite (talk) 16:47, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
- It's a good example of a very detailed list. This is a very minimal list.

? --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 17:00, 6 November 2020 (UTC)- I am not referring to any particular person. I am referring to Wikipedia site policy. It is a clear violation of policy to have a wholly unreferenced page, referenced only to other Wikipedia articles. Right cite (talk) 17:02, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
- We're trying to establish whether or not the tag belongs. Repeating your rationale while we do so is unhelpful at best. Throwing in "ludicrous" makes it far worse. --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 17:07, 6 November 2020 (UTC)

- Hi Hipal and Right cite, I've added some sources, but all I have googled so far, are really well known hunger strikers, many have died and some of the died are also national heroes. If you don't agree, add some sources yourself, instead of disrupting wikipedia with so long discussions.Paradise Chronicle (talk) 23:53, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks. The references are not necessary if it's obviously verified in the linked article. Simple lists like this one don't need them, as can be seen looking through good articles. --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 00:10, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
- I tried two arbitrary people in the list:
- Randall Robinson - I found the word hunger strike in a paragraph with no inline references at all;
- Govinda K.C. - has four subsections on hunger striking, and all appear to be sourced (I didn't check if the sources actually provide the info on the hunger strike) except for one, to which I added a tag.
- I don't have a strong opinion about whether the references are obligatory in this list or not, but for this tiny sample, the success rate in checking the linked (blue) articles is only 50%. Boud (talk) 02:04, 1 March 2021 (UTC)

- Looks like a good place to try to deal with this issue. However, the discussion over there appears unclosed. Someone needs to summarise the arguments there and at least propose a summary, even if not a guideline, to see if something like consensus could emerge... Boud (talk) 02:04, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
Individuals who have conducted a hunger strike
editShould this list be alphabetical or chronological? Right now most entries are undated, and ordering looks like a mix of alphabetical and chronological. Boud (talk) 01:41, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
- If it's converted into a table, it can be both. FDW777 (talk) 15:41, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
