Duplicate of List of most-polluted cities by particulate matter concentration
editHi,
There is already an article which includes the most polluted cities by particulate matter concentration. To avoid this duplication I propose to trim the list in this article to the top 50 or top 100 least polluted cities and keep the most polluted ones in the other article. thomasmazzotta 09:40, 22 July 2023 (UTC)
- This list is different from the other list. The data source is different. This one is more update as well. And it doesn’t sound reasonable that only some people can know the PM concentration of the place they live when they come to the page, while people from the other 400 cities can’t. --Dustfreeworld (talk) 17:49, 26 July 2023 (UTC)
- They both rank cities by PM2.5 so they pretty much overlap. If the source is different and/or more recent we could have a single article with both the sources. See for example List of countries by life expectancy or List of countries by infant and under-five mortality rates. Also, if somebody wants to know their city and it's not in the top 100 they could still visit the link with the complete data used to make this article. Otherwise the name of the article cannot be "lest" or "most" cities by something. thomasmazzotta 08:42, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
- You mentioned that the other list is too long. Then you trimmed this list and removed 25,208 bytes without any consensus (which I’ve reverted). And now you say we should have one long single article with both sources…
- For the second point you made, perhaps we should have an article with only 3 cities listed, plus a link to redirect our readers to the source?? Why do we need this Wikipedia then?
- As for your concern that the list is covering too many cities and not only the “least polluted” ones, do you know that there’re over 10000 cities in the world? So it is true that now only a portion of all the cities is covered.
- By the way, you have changed the name of this article without any consensus or even a notice on talk. While the name change seems OK for me, I don’t think this is an appropriate practice, especially for a user who had never contributed to the page. Also there are some problems with your signature. Please see WP:CUSTOMSIG/P and WP:SIGPROB. Thanks. --Dustfreeworld (talk) 12:29, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
