Talk:List of longest-running American first-run syndicated television series

First-run only

edit

Somehow, this article included a TON of popular, network and cable series which were NOT first-run syndicated. I have clarified that this list is about long-lived first-run syndicated series.

A list of the longest-running series which were ever syndicated would be all of them, because every long-lived, successful TV series has been syndicated for obvious business reasons. Such a list would be repetitive of the existing long-running series lists, and makes no sense independently and would not be notable. This list is obviously supposed to be about first-run series. That is a notable series, and doesn't duplicate other content.

I cut what I could immediately, clarified the intro, and moved the page to a more descriptive location. I'm sure more work can be done. Jbbdude (talk) 00:56, 14 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

A bit more investigation has suggested that these things came in to the article starting in May 2015 from Dabossman1000000 and multiple IP users. I don't want to have to fix this again. Network shows that aired in syndication are NOT first-run syndicated shows. I hope the article updates and title change made this clear. Jbbdude (talk) 01:02, 14 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

and yet, gunsmoke is still listed, though it appears that it was a CBS production for its entire run. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.249.97.48 (talk) 18:17, 1 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Supernatural also is a network show (the WB, then CW). ProfessorAndro (talk) 15:49, 9 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Smallville

edit

Why is it on this list? First airings were on the WB and CW. Lanmanna (talk) 04:25, 28 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
