Sourcing push
editAs evidenced by my recent edits, I'm trying to add reliable sources for each entry here. That this is a list article doesn't excuse the need for them. In fact, showing by example that evidence of notability is required will hopefully discourage inappropriate additions. Coverage in quality sourcing should be the main criterion for inclusion. — TKD::{talk} 23:13, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Would anyone object to an editnotice to be displayed when editing this article? Something like:
Attention
Please heed the guidelines in Wikipedia:Notability and Wikipedia:Reliable sources.Notability is demonstrated not through pure popularity, but through coverage in reliable third-party sources. Citing sources will help to keep additions from being reverted. |
This is a revision of the notice in SGML comments currently in the article text. — TKD::{talk} 23:37, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- Seems like a good idea. People never seem to pay attention to those SGML comments; this would be much better.--Drat (Talk) 13:40, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
- Done. For tracking purposes, the notice is at Template:Editnotices/List of machinima works. Note that all editnotices pages are effectively protected through MediaWiki:Titleblacklist. — TKD::{talk} 14:27, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
- Convention changed; the editnotice is now at Template:Editnotices/Page/List of machinima works. And there's been a spate of questionable additions recently. I'll try to source the remaining entries to further discourage by example. —TKD [talk][c] 23:48, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Unsourced redlinks
editMoving these from the main article to discourage further unsourced redlinks.
Title | Creator(s) | Genre | Game(s) or game engine(s) | Release date(s) |
---|---|---|---|---|
A Clone Apart | Illusive Entertainment | Science fiction | Star Wars: Battlefront II | 2007–2008 |
Ignis Solus | Lit Fuse Films | Comedy | Team Fortress 2 | 2007 |
Snacky's Journal | Stone Falcon Productions | Comedy | World of Warcraft | 2007 |
I don't know yet whether these are viable; I haven't personally conducted a thorough search. If someone can find sources, feel free to re-add them to the article proper. —TKD [talk][c] 23:46, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Notes/Notability column
editFollowing the examples of some featured lists on people, I'd like to introduce a "Notes" or "Notability" column for textual information as to the particular encyclopedic relevance of the entry in question. To make room for this, I suggest that we remove the creator and genre columns. Either people can find that information out on the entry's link, or, if it's relevant, it can be worked into the text. For example, it's worth mentioning The French Democracy was an important political machinima work, and that This Spartan Life is a virtual talk show done with digital puppetry. —TKD [talk][c] 08:37, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Clear Skies
editWould Clear Skies (Source Engine and Eve Online) machinima qualify as notable? A quick 5 second google search says no, but the series has won at least 2 awards I can see. -Noh Boddy (talk) 00:03, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Borg War should be added here.
editjust noticed this, and don't have time to work on it myself so i am just suggesting it here instead. the Borg War movie is a notable machinima production. it is also referenced in the main Machinima article. eMBee 1.202.240.228 (talk) 18:59, 12 October 2014 (UTC)
