PROFITS It would be more important to say what are the profits of these stock exchanges.
A ranking by profits is more relevant.--83.165.178.34 (talk) 20:35, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
Toronto Stock Exchange as the world's Fifth Largest
editThe TSX (Toronto Stock Exchange) is known to be the fifth largest stock exchange in the world as of 2007 according to the NPD research firm. I don,t have the numbers, but this list on Wikipedia is outdated for sure. Can someone help me find the current numbers to amke this information more accurate. I'm sure there are more errors and inaccuracies other than the one for the TSX.--74.113.149.254 03:01, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
- What about options exchange, such as Chicago Board of Options Exchanges (CBOE) and commodities, such as Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) and Chicago Mercantile Exchange?
- There should be a seperate page for this. As far as I can see, there is only one category for Futures and Options Exchanges, but that's commodity exchanges. DocendoDiscimus 08:20, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

INEX

Trading Period: Opening and Closing Times
editThis list would be even more useful if it provided the local trading period by including the official opening and closing times of the exchange. For the UK site this could also include GMT. --62.172.124.68 (talk) 13:11, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
Defunct and renamed exchanges?
editThe list is headed This is an active list of stock exchanges.
Should it say This is a list of active stock exchanges?
I ask because an unregistered user just deleted several former and renamed exchanges in Asia without explanation.

ATSes and MTFs
editAny thoughts about whether or not this list should include MTFs and ATSes? In europe the second largest trading venue is Chi-X (it will be the biggest if it merges wih BATS), yet it's not mentioned here.
Low trading volume for Russia and probably India
editAre you able to verify the volume estimates? As far as I know, MICEX volume is 5 times larger, up to 2 $bln. The same question, low trading volume to capitalization, is raised for India.
Look at MICEX's press-release http://translate.google.com/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=ru&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.micex.ru%2Finfocenter%2Fpresscenter%2Ffeatures%2Fview%2F190624 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Depesha (talk • contribs) 07:38, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
The merger between Borsa Italiana and London Stock Exchange
editin 2007 London Stock Exchange has been merged with Borsa Italiana, creating the greatest stock exchange in Europe, the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG)!
In October 2007 the Exchange merged with Borsa Italiana, creating Europe's leading diversified exchange business: London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG). For the fourth consecutive year, LSEG has been recognised as the top European exchange for Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) by volume at the Seventh Annual Global ETF Awards.
http://business.ezinemark.com/top-stock-exchanges-in-europe-18493607fbd.html
the article does not mention the merger of Borsa Italiana (Italian Stock Exchange based in Milan) with London Stock Exchange.
and the table shows only London Stock Exchange without mention of Borsa Italiana
the London Stock Exchange Group is an anglo-italian group with a board of 7 from england and 5 from italy
the London Stock Exchange Group owns Borsa Italiana and London Stock Exchange
here the link from the official site of LSE: http://www.londonstockexchange.com/about-the-exchange/media-relations/press-releases/2007/borsaitalianaandlondonstockexchangegrouptomerge.htm
The Boards of Borsa Italiana S.p.A. (“Borsa Italiana”) and London Stock Exchange Group plc (“London Stock Exchange”) today announce that they have entered into an agreement on the terms of a recommended offer to be made by the London Stock Exchange to the shareholders of Borsa Italiana. The merger of Borsa Italiana and the London Stock Exchange (the “Merger”) creates the leading diversified exchange group in Europe and the platform for additional strong growth on a European and global scale. As the European exchange leader in the listing and trading of equities and the leader in electronic trading of ETFs, securitised derivatives and fixed income products, the combined group will provide significant benefits for customers and shareholders.

Exchange in Chicago
editSomething seems out of place. Didn't the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and the Chicago Board of Trade (CBT) become one with CME's purchase of CBT? Then CME purchased New York's Nymex. That makes CME HUGE!!! Doesn't that mean Chicago should be on the American list? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.251.112.134 (talk) 05:10, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

Some things seem to be mixed up
editThe introduction of this list says the table at the beginning lists the top 20 stock exchanges by market capitalization. If that were the case, then entries such as NYSE Euronext or Deutsche Börse don't belong in this table, as they are not stock exchanges, but stock exchange operating companies. NASDAQ OMX Group according to our article actually manages 9 different stock exchanges. So what exactly is the intended scope of this list? Listing stock exchanges or stock exchange operators? -- Toshio Yamaguchi 18:05, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
- I think Yamaguchi has a good point. A list of stock exchange owners or operators might be useful, but a mixed list has problems. the NYSE and the Euronext should have different information about volume, opening, closing, etc. Maybe I should post this at the template talk page? j-beda (talk) 13:21, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

Missing Exchange in article
editForgot a header in my post above, and do not want it to be overseen: can anyone add Dutch Caribbean Securities Exchange (www.dcsx.an/)? Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.93.0.106 (talk) 13:32, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
- I added it to the list under List of stock exchanges#Netherlands. -- Toshio Yamaguchi 18:03, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
shouldn't the dutch caribbean securities exchange better be moved from europe to the americas? it's based in curacao, which is an island next to the venezuelan coast in the caribbean. not sure if it is more north or south america - all other exchanges in this region are currently classified as north america, though it looks more like south america on the map. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.93.0.106 (talk) 08:51, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
- Politically the territory where the exchange is located (Curaçao) belongs to the Netherlands, that's why I added it under Europe/Netherlands. -- Toshio Yamaguchi 11:47, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
Seychelles/Vanuatu
editHi, found an additional exchange on the Seychelles: http://www.trop-x.com/. There is also one on Vanuatu called 'GX Marketcenter', but there is no further information or website. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.93.0.106 (talk) 08:28, 21 March 2013 (UTC)
TROP-X is a real exchange in the Seychelles. GX marketcenter is nonexistent. There is an OTC in Vanuatu, Pacific OTC, www,pacificotc.com — Preceding unsigned comment added by Resistk (talk • contribs) 16:20, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
table?
editmost countries have single stock exchange.
Should the article be transformed in one huge table in the middle? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.10.229.1 (talk) 10:37, 7 April 2014 (UTC)
Merge with List of stock exchange opening times
editThe tabulated data in these two articles overlaps significantly. And strangely List of stock exchange opening times appears to get more views than this article, which is counterintuitive given this article is broader. Oncenawhile (talk) 23:53, 26 December 2014 (UTC)
As a trader it is better to leave this page as is because it is a very useful resource that should be a stand alone. Perhaps also more exchanges could be added. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.102.88.214 (talk) 20:47, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
- Leave as-is. It is useful to have the opening times as a standalone list resource. 77.195.10.107 (talk) 12:45, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
I would favor a merge as the combined table would still be easy to read, perhaps use a text feature to highlight major exchanges, or the same could be done to the opening times to make them visually easy to isolate70.53.86.233 (talk) 02:47, 26 June 2016 (UTC)donald

Include stock exchange acronyms?
editHi. I came across some unfamiliar stock exchange acronyms so of course I turned to Wiki for help. I know NYSE stands for New York Stock Exchange, for instance, but I don't know what the acronyms for these other exchanges are. Perhaps they should be included? Thanks for all your hard work! (And I do contribute cash to Wiki at intervals.) :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by W0manp0et (talk • contribs) 21:01, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
Hong Kong Flag?
editI see someone is reverting this change. This has been debated many times, across many pages and the conclusion was always that whenever national flags are used, it's not appropriate to mix with subnational flags. For example, New York City would have the flag of the USA, and not the state of New York. Similarly, Hong Kong should be the flag of China. London the flag of the UK, not England. Please see List of tallest buildings, List of urban areas by population, List of largest cities, etc... It would be very strange if stock exchanges would be the only such list to include national flags, except for one city, Hong Kong. What makes stock exchanges different?
If you really wanted to use the Hong Kong flag, then you would change *every* flag to subnational flags (so use state or province flags instead) so that it is consistent. It doesn't make sense to mix two different kinds in one column as is done here. Mattximus (talk) 18:57, 26 August 2018 (UTC)
- It's going to be different when discussing economies as Hong Kong is a SAR. Additionally, please see the usage at List of East Asian stock exchanges. Nihlus 19:24, 26 August 2018 (UTC)
Exchange Indices Inclusion
editHow nice to include the top 1 or 2 indeces for each exchange, assuming it has a dominant index.
Data being manipulated by trolls
editNo. 10 and No. 11 on this list are India's Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange. However, some trolls keep trying to change this to Karachi Stock Exchange and Pakistan Stock Exchange. Can we mark this page as protected to stop the vandalization?

Tadawul - The Saudi Stock Exchange
editBy virtue of Saudi Aramco floating and becoming the largest company in history this stock exchange (Tadawul) should now technically make it into the list as the value of Saudi Aramco alone is 2 Trillion +. Financefactz (talk) 12:44, 12 December 2019 (UTC)
Major commodity exchanges
editThis section lists commodity exchanges, and so it should be moved to List of commodities exchanges. It doesn't belong in this list of stock exchanges. Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM) is now focused on energy derivatives because Japan Exchange Group has transferred all the other products to Osaka Exchange (OSE). Thus, OSE's trading volume is now greater than TOCOM's. OSE should appear in this list. Shinkansen Fan (talk) 14:37, 19 February 2022 (UTC)

Updae India's BSE & NSE Figures
editPlease Update India's BSE and NSE total market capitalisation figures from 2022 data to 2023 data.
I am requesting for figure updates of India and not other countries because US's data is already up to date(NYSE market cap shown in this article: $22.7 Trillion and NYSE total market cap as of latest 2023 data on its wikipedia page: $22.7 T(approx.)), China don't provide updated figures, UK have also not updated their stock market market-cap & same goes for Japan.
New updated market-cap figures for BSE: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombay_Stock_Exchange
New updated market-cap figures for NSE: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Stock_Exchange_of_India
Thankyou.
And please let me know if I am wrong about my request, Thanks again!
Display on a map?
