Melaleuca

Re Melaleuca: there was recently an RfC at Frank L. VanderSloot, that was closed with a summary that read in part: "There is consensus that reliable sources describe his company as a MLM and that this isn't something that is the subject of debate among those who have written articles on the question. While the use of the Attorney General consent agreement is disfavored (as it's a primary source), there are ample secondary sources that describe Melaleuca as a "multi-level" corporation." Vector is single level marketing

Vector marketing is single level marketing firm. They are not multi-level marketing. Here are the references. Please remove them from the list.

The sources you provided above are company press releases. In contrast, independent secondary sources, cited in the Vector article, describe it as a multi-level marketing company.[1][2] Here's another.[3] Rhode Island Red (talk) 22:28, 26 February 2013 (UTC)

Edit request on 1 May 2013

Vemma is conspicuously absent from the list of MLM companies. As it is one of the hottest things going, being targeted at teens and college students, it should be listed. The Vemma article was deleted, see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Vemma. Not sure whether red links are appropriate in this list, would be better if there was an article on the company. Wbm1058 (talk) 14:04, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Before I included it in the list, I made sure that I found a reliable source that discussed its business model. Redlinks are generally appropriate for lists, and in this case I believe it is appropriate. I'm happy to discuss, though, and I could be persuaded. Andrew³²⁷ 14:27, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Vemma was deleted from the article on the grounds that the introduction says the following: "This is a list of Wikipedia pages about companies which use multi-level marketing... for most of their sales." If we're being that precise, wouldn't we have to remove Equinox, Holiday Magic, Melaleuca, Metabolife, Royal Tongan, and United Sciences? After all, they either have closed (and do not "use multilevel marketing") or do not have an article written about the company being referenced. Andrew³²⁷ 03:47, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Vemma should now be included

Vemma is a MLM company, and it now has sufficient notability to be included.

I tried to readd Vemma to the list then clicked the link to create the article for it, and noticed the prior deletion in 2008 ([log]) and I don't have permissions to recreate it.

However, it should be recreated now. Whatever its notability in 2008, things have changed since then. My proposed addition on the List page was this, or similar:

• Vemma

And one of the references on the proposed article would have been this:

• Vemma has been recognized with numerous industry awards...

If an administrator could please give me permissions to create Vemma, or could simply create it for me and notify me on my Talk page, I'll start to fill it out. Thanks, I dream of horses (T) but I don't think that Vemma is a good candidate for articles for creation, as none of the criteria for adding a request to the articles for creation page apply. The criteria listed there are:

• If you don't have a Wikipedia user account but have an idea and sources for a new article
• If you have an idea for the title of an article, but no content for the article itself
• If you already have a Wikipedia user account, you can also use the Article Wizard to help you create your article.

However, I have a Wikipedia user account, I have the idea, some content to start it off, and some sources to substantiate it (two of which are already noted above), and I know how to create articles, so don't need the Wizard. I simply cannot create the article, as I said previously, due to permissions because of a prior article deletion. This apparently requires an Admin to create the page.

Could an Admin please create Vemma so I may begin to work on it? Or is there something else I'm missing? Mathglot (talk) 00:37, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

Wow, I hadn't heard of that one before, it's pretty interesting. Surprisingly, currently there is no page for the Global Information Network (GIN) that's associated with Kevin Trudeau, nor is there any mention of it at Trudeau's page. There is a page by that name (Global Information Network) but it's for an unrelated news-service which has no connections to Trudeau or MLM. Since this is a list of Wikipedia articles about MLM companies, there's nothing to add to the page. GIN is currently being investigated by the FTC to determine if it's an MLM or a plain ol' pyramid scheme.[4] It's worth keeping an eye on. Grayfell (talk) 21:47, 25 October 2013 (UTC)
