Tiers
editCan it be made more clear how many tiers of local government there are in Alberta? It appears to only be one, at least for cities. In a lot of other places, even incorporated cities/towns/villages are second-tier below a county or regional municiaplity. It appears in Alberta that at least the urban municipalities are single tier (and maybe even the other municipalities), and if this is the case, this needs to be made plainly clear. Thanks. --Criticalthinker (talk) 17:35, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
- There are no tiers of municipalities in Alberta. Per the article, there are nine unique types aggregated into the four categories. Hwy43 (talk) 22:54, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for answering, but it's probably why this needs to be explicitly stated. Simply listing the different types of municipalities does not explicitly explain that they are all on the same administrative level. I'm sure I'm not the only one who wondered this, particularly given, again, that this isn't a particularly common case. --Criticalthinker (talk) 18:09, 22 July 2015 (UTC)
- Of Canada's ten provinces and three territories, only three provinces have a two-tiered systems. The remaining seven provinces and all territories have no tiers of local governments. It is therefore less common to have tiers here. Hwy43 (talk) 07:36, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
