Boundaries
edit@RTG: thanks for this new list. I was wondering what the criteria for this list are, i.e. what are the boundaries between this list, governmental agencies and private/commercial space exploration enterprises? I'd argue that most non governmental space agencies receive either governmental or private funding, usually both. It is then a question how much influence either party has on this supposedly non governmental agency. This will be a quite controversial question I believe. Hence, some criteria would be good. - Hi @Jake Brockman:, two are based out of universities and the other is a non-profit. I started it when at first I did not find its title, in research for another topic. But now that I see both original lists, there is a space for non profit. Maybe it should be moved to List of non profit space agencies, or List of non profit space organisations, if not made the parent title for "Private", however, on personal opinion I'd like the distinction made for non profits. ~ R.T.G 15:28, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
- @RTG:, "non profit" is probably quite a good idea and it describes the purpose of the list unambiguously. I believe one of the universities (the Korean one) is government aligned. So I would definitely contest it as not "non governmental"... pseudonym Jake Brockman talk 15:52, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Jake Brockman: Well another one I have here is Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS). It is difficult to categorise it non governmental, as it is mostly funded by NASA, but apparently matches NASA funding in sources abroad. It is claimed to be a non profit by space.com[1]. Space.com infers that CASIS is independent. So if the list is moved to "non profit" it will start to include a lot of government sponsored initiatives. I don't see a problem and probably a necessary classification, though we will have to see how many items there are to fill it. ~ R.T.G 18:21, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
- There is possibly List of non government non profit space agencies but it seems too many words ~ R.T.G 18:26, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
