Once upon a time I added Alphabet of Desire to this article, and now its being directed to the Austin Osman Spare page. I was hoping someone could start the page from there. Why is it being directed to Spares article? I'm desperately searching for sources to create the article myself, still! Zos 03:45, 11 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Good place to point it meanwhile. Just edit the redirect page when you are ready to add. [1] -999 (Talk) 04:15, 11 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

These additions are not appropriate and have been removed. Religion is not a subcategory of occult. They are distinct categories, and it is offensive to Christians to include such religious terms as Eucharist for example, which is not generally considered an occult term. I assume followers of Islam would feel the same way about the inclusion of Islamic terms. Similarly, mythology is not "occult", etc. Occultism may be a subcategory of esoteric religion: but that does not make terms used in exoteric or mainstream religion "occult". You should be ashamed of yourself. Skyerise (talk) 11:24, 16 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Overgeneralization

edit

I have removed a lot of religious and mythological terms from the list. The list needs more pruning. Not all esoteric topics are considered "occult", neither are all "New Age" terms "occult". An overinclusive list doesn't help anyone. There should be no inclusions of terms where the linked article does not explicitly cover the occult usage of the term. I've cleaned up most of what needed to be cleaned up, but I left the mythological creatures for now; I think they should also be removed, as there is a List of mythological creatures and it is linked from the see also section; mythological does not imply "occult". If a mythological figure does have occult usages, that occult usage would need to be detailed in the article(s) of any to be left on this list. Skyerise (talk) 11:38, 17 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
