OR title?
editIt seems that the title Montreal Oil Refining Center is original research. By Google search there is no results for "Montreal Oil Refining Center", except Wikipedia and its derivatives. There is no reliable sources for oil refining center. It would be ok to rename this article to List of oil refineries in Montreal or Oil facilities and companies in Montreal, but current title is problematic. Beagel (talk) 21:25, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
- I have moved the article to the name suggested by Beagel. No hits came up for Montreal Oil Refining Center. Given the article is a list it seemed most appropriate. --Labattblueboy (talk) 09:41, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
- I cancelled the name moved of this article because, the petrochemical plants aren't a refinery, the oil terminals aren't a refinery, the desulphuration factories aren't a refinery. The only appropriate name of this article is Montreal Oil Refining Center, it's the same article as Edmonton Oil Refining Center and the future article of Sarnia Oil Refining Center in Ontario. The meaning of the Oil Refining Center is a amalgam of refineries, of oil terminals, of chemicals plants, of petrochemicals plants and of pipelines industries. I recommend to conserve the name of this article. Thanks ! --Fredoues (talk) 18:10, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
- I'll put in an offcial move request. The term Montreal Oil Refining Center doesn't exist, certainly not as a proper name. I'll put forward a requested move and see if some other suggestion come up. --Labattblueboy (talk) 20:28, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: moved to List of oil facilities in Montreal. Labattblueboy (talk) 06:12, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
Montreal Oil Refining Center → Oil refining facilities in Montreal — Extensive web search found no hits for the current name. In the least it's not a proper name. Beagel suggested a rename given the article is largely a list. List of oil refineries in Montreal or Oil facilities and companies in Montreal. Fredoues has noted that the scope is larger than strictly oil refineries, so I believe "facilities" should group everything together nicely. —Labattblueboy (talk) 20:28, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
- Is not a good idea to change that title because i try to create a real organization of the refining activities in Canada. You noted the definition of the oil refining center and inside the ministries of natural resources and some workers inside the petroleum industry, for to talk about a important refining place, those guys name Oil Refining Center (Edmonton, Sarnia, Montreal) and more. Look the infobox of refinery. But i recognize, the title can represent de Montreal Oil Refining Center but isn't appropriate for the domain of refining. --Fredoues (talk) 21:43, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
- Without references in the article there's really not much point in this. As a matter of fact, this unreferenced article appears to be a somewhat indiscriminate list of refineries which happen to be near Montreal...
— V = I * R (talk to Ohms law) 10:23, 26 January 2010 (UTC)- The fact is, the refineries are all in the same area, and together they occupy nearly two-thirds of Montréal-Est. They are colloquially referred to by the French as "quartier des raffineries." The area doesn't have an official name that I'm aware of, however. -- Blanchardb -Me•MyEars•MyMouth- timed 18:51, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
The user Fredoues appears to be a sock puppet, by the appearance of his/her talk page. He/She also renamed Refinery Row (Edmonton), to the obscure name "Edmonton Oil Refining Center", saying that it will be good for the organization of refineries in Canada. I see no need for organization, when it is only these two articles, and if it were needed, the official names would be used. Other reasons against the name "Edmonton Oil Refining Center" can be found at Talk:Edmonton Oil Refining Center#Request to revert page move. 117Avenue (talk) 00:27, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
- Support move to List of oil refineries in Montreal or List of oil facilities in Montreal, or something of the sort. a) the article is a list, b) "Montreal Oil Refining Center" is not a name used at all, colloquial or not. Furthermore, "Center" as currently spelled isn't Canadian English ("Centre" is). -M.Nelson (talk) 01:29, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
- I changed the name of the articles of Montreal Oil Refining Center to Montreal Oil Refining Centre and Edmonton Oil Refining Center to Edmonton Oil Refining Centre. After, i desire to have with you a wiki meeting with 117Avenue, M.Nelson, Labattblueboy and Blanchardb for to explain correctly and with to mutch details the portal of refining in Canada and my work orientation, because obviously, it's very controversy. I guest you to work with me to create the 1) Petroleum Portal in Canada and 2) Refining Portal in Canada. In a few days, i will explain nicely my work orientation, just trust me because i work inside this domain.
- List of oil refineries in Montreal: Do the Coastal Petrochemical plant is a refinery ? No, it's a petrochemical factory, isn't the same thing of a oil refinery. Do the oil terminal is a oil refinery ? The answer is also No. Do the Pipelines companies are a oil refinery ? The answer is No. This name is absolutely not appropriate but it's a name for the refineries section inside the Montreal Oil Refining Centre article.
- List of oil facilities in Montreal : This is not correct for the domain of the refining in Canada. This is ok only for the sections of refineries, petrochemicals, chemicals and oil terminals only but not for the rest of the article.
- Oil facilities and compagnies in Montreal : The title of the article is to mutch large for the refining domain.
- Oil refining facilities in Montreal : It's not a good idea to separate this article who represent nicely the Montreal Oil Refining Centre.
- But i desire to tell you : Thanks for the suggestions. I will talk with all this week or the next week ! --Fredoues (talk) 05:10, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

- Comment I think this would more properly be called a "cluster" and is (somewhat) notable as such. The cluster aspect derives from the fact that there are all sorts of pipes running between these facilities, one plant supplies feedstock for another one, etc. This allows optimization of production at each facility, for example, PetroCan can tune its operation to split a stream of ethylene going over to the Nova polyethylene plant. I've never heard it called "Montreal Oil Refining Centre" though, and capitalizing the entire name definitely seems like OR. However, [List of...] doesn't seem to accurately convey what the article is actually about. Franamax (talk) 11:14, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
- Support move to Montreal petrochemical cluster or something of the sort per my response at Talk:Edmonton Oil Refining Centre#Request to revert page move. -M.Nelson (talk) 16:23, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
- Support move to List of petrochemical facilities in Montreal or List of oil facilities in Montreal. If the article is a list, its title should indicate that, shouldn't it? DigitalC (talk) 17:09, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Deleting the article
editI'm against the deletion of this article, i demand to remove the box on top of this article who meaning the deletion of the article. I demand some times for to complete this article. I suggest to have the rating for the Montreal portal and the Quebec portal. I demand to help me for to complete this article in function of the Oil refining context of Montreal. Thanks for all ! --Fredoues (talk) 22:21, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- Fredoues, your English may not be the best - it's best to not "demand" things at Wikipedia, but I think you meant "ask". The AFD box at the top of the article will remain while the deletion discussion runs its course (seven days), it is there to let editors know there is a discussion in progress. You can continue to work on the article while it's under discussion, no problem there (but don't remove the AFD template, let an admin do that). You can contribute to the deletion discussion too, and you may get feedback there that will help you to improve the article. Franamax (talk) 11:49, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
