Ulead

Are four external links to Ulead Systems optical authoring programs really necessary? Seems a bit excessive to me. In fact this whole page looks like a link farm. (Requestion 04:15, 27 May 2006 (UTC))

Authoring vs Copying

I don't think CD/DVD Ripping software should be listed as "authoring" software. Several programs (example: Alcohol 120%) don't offer any ability to author CDs/DVDs. These software titles are CD/DVD "drive emulator" software or CD/DVD "copying" software but their own websites declare that they do not provide "authoring" capabilities. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.68.153.91 (talk • contribs) 05:42, 26 November 2006 (UTC).

I would suggest ripping only software be removed from this list. I also suggest this list should be split into List of optical disc authoring software and List of optical disc image software. The authoring software list would be for programs that can actually burn data, while the image software list would be for programs that create, convert, manipulate, and mount optical disc images. It would be even better if these articles were made into Comparison of ... articles (e.g. Comparison of P2P applications) --Egriffin 15:53, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Zeta ?

Since apparently nobody bothers to answer this question I'll restate it a little more formally. The article has an own section for an operating system called "Zeta". I am not aware of such an OS, and there is no link about it. Could somebody please provide a short explanation what this supposedly is ? Wefa 13:32, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

external links

why are external links forbidden? i tried to add one for bonfire/brasero, a very relevant cd burning application for gnome, and it got removed because "it's a 100% link free article"... what's the point of this? shouldn't we only remove spamish links? brasero is now much more relevant than many of the alternatives mentioned here (many of them discontinued!). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Santiago Roza (Kq) (talk • contribs) 15:15, 23 March 2007 (UTC).

• Instead of creating external link, you can write an article about software (with external link, but not only that) and link to article instead. Comparison Matrix

For some software products some experts created comparison matrices also directly in wikipedia, e.g. for archive software. This would be very helpful for this kind of software.

s/commercial/retail/

The section 'Commercial' is a bit ill-named, as both freeware and open source/free software in many cases are commercial (see commercial software). I'd say that Retail software is a more suitable term. --Erik (talk) 17:14, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
