Didn't he make headlines criticizing Brazil's stance on abortion?
editaccording to this (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18569939/) he sparked something of a controversy in Mexico condemning Mexican politicians as well. It appears that, according to this (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/09/world/europe/09cnd-pope.html) Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said on an interview that while he's personally against abortion, criminalizing it would have serious repercussions before meeting the Pope, but after Benedict's statements condemning Mexican politicians were made. I'm not sure what was the conclusion. Lysis rationale 03:15, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
Pope Benedict XVI visit to USA
editSome important points are missing in this article. First, the pope was greeted with a dignity greater than any visiting dignitary had ever been greeted and Second, all of the papal Masses were televised in their entirety on the major television networks including Fox News and Cable News Netword (CNN). Media reports were filled with comments that he was greeted everywhere he went "like a rock star" and crowds frequently burst out in singing "Happy Birthday to you" since the visit took place during the week of his April 16th birthday. Protection needed for this page?
editSomeone insists on posting comments about arresting the Pope when he travels to Great Britain. There is no reference source given but the comment "Hopefully they succeed" is appended. So much for NPOV. Since the main article for Pope Benedict XVI is protected, this page is probably going to face vandalism. So a semi-protected status might be necessary...

This article is long, and can give only cursory treatment to individual journeys. Comments on thoughts of a separate article for the forthcoming UK visit? Springnuts (talk) 09:20, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
- I think there's enough content about the UK visit to justify a separate article; it's had a great deal of coverage from the British media. That section's only going to get longer once the trip actually happens, so it would make sense to spin it out now. Robofish (talk) 12:56, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
- oppose its only a couple of para's doesnt warrant a new article by itself. The article is not even that wrong to make browing difficult.Lihaas (talk) 08:56, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
- Support as long as there's enough information to create a reasonably sized article. I'd say a Papal visit to Britain is notable enough for its own entry. There's only been one previous such visit in recent times, and it's getting a lot of media coverage. TheRetroGuy (talk) 17:30, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
- Support This has been the lead story on the media here all day and has been an item of discussion for months. I believe this topic deserves its own arcticle, which would allow for more detailed analysis as is expected. 21:05, 16 September 2010 (BST) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.151.137.214 (talk)
- Support. It has sufficient info and is a notable topic. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 21:00, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

- There's media coverage about his visit to the USA, Cuba (and under the circumstances a heck of a lot), and other Latamn countries, each doesnt warrant its own page.Lihaas (talk) 06:56, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
Rename
editMove this to "Pastoral trips of Pope Benedict XVI" in line with Pastoral trips of Pope John Paul II. More official sounding than "jouirneys of..."Lihaas (talk) 07:00, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
FWIW, I agree... Chessbot (talk) 17:15, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
Separate article for US 2008?
editThere is a lot more information than is included about his 2008 visit to the U.S. Do folks support a separate article for it? NYyankees51 (talk) 19:06, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
Germany Nazi Reference
editQuote from article: "At 6:30 P.M., he is due to celebrate Mass in the Berlin Olympic Stadium- which was ordered built by Adolf Hitler when Germany hosted the Summer Olympics preceding World War II." Removed following clause, as the building of the stadium has no apparent relevance to the Pope's visit. Info on the stadium itself can certainly be found on its own page.
