Please add Jungkook's name again in the List of the people with Absolute Pitch. There is some biased person here who keeps removing his name. There are multiple articles and videos on his perfect pitch for proof, Charlie Puth has also mentioned his perfect pitch many times in his radio interviews. 39.51.25.184 (talk) 03:09, 29 July 2022 (UTC)

Jungkook proves that he has absolute pitch on camera in episode 150 of the variety show, “RUN BTS”. He is able to identify the notes, without a reference point, which is the definition of absolute pitch. The link to the official posting of the video is here: https://m.vlive.tv/post/1-25128890. Moniinicole (talk) 03:48, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
Add Jungkook’s name back, it was incorrectly removed.
editMultiple credible sources were provided, yet his name was still removed by a biased person. Jungkook has been confirmed to have perfect pitch. The definition of absolute pitch is “to identify or re-create a musical note, without the benefit of a reference tone.” This is exactly what he does on camera, in this video of the variety show “RUN BTS in episode 150”. This is the link to the official video and he demonstrates this ability at about 3 minutes and 10 seconds into the video: https://m.vlive.tv/post/1-25128890
Refer to the following articles that have written about Jungkook having absolute pitch:
https://www.koreaboo.com/news/run-bts-jungkook-perfect-pitch-members-reaction/
https://www.sportskeeda.com/amp/pop-culture/news-miraculously-perfect-charlie-puth-heaps-praise-bts-jung-kook-s-impressive-vocals Moniinicole (talk) 22:49, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
- You've been referred multiple times to our reliable sources policy page. None of these sources are particularly strong in that regard. While Charlie Puth appears on this list with two reasonable sources (Classic_FM_(UK) and The Independent), I don't think it's sufficient for Bluth himself to declare "I believe he has perfect pitch too" (from the Sportskeeda article). The other sources are all predicated on a test the members othe band took in an episode of BTS's own variety show Run BTS, which doesn't seem like a particularly solid and unbiased source either. OhNoitsJamie Talk 23:06, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
I want another administrator to look over this issue, since you keep denying that it was reported in these articles that Jungkook displayed this ability on camera. It was even in the video. Did you watch the official video? How can you deny something that was done on camera. 2 of these articles mentioned that he demonstrated absolute pitch on camera. Moniinicole (talk) 00:11, 30 July 2022 (UTC)
There are still 2 articles and a video that have absolutely nothing to do with Charlie Puth. There are many more articles I can link as well that discuss Jungkook proving his absolute pitch ability on camera in the variety show. I can provide more if necessary. Moniinicole (talk) 00:15, 30 July 2022 (UTC)
However, you also missed the exact text from the Sportskeeda article where Charlie Puth said “Jungkook was able to sing the notes perfectly without any reference point”. That itself is the definition of absolute pitch. If you can’t accept that as solid evidence, then the current Wikipedia definition for absolute pitch needs to be reviewed and edited. Moniinicole (talk) 00:18, 30 July 2022 (UTC)
- Sportskeeda is considered generally unreliable due to a lack of editorial oversight. See Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 343#Sportskeeda generally unreliable? for the discussion. Chlod (say hi!) 06:47, 30 July 2022 (UTC)

Book source for review
editJungkook has been confirmed by music industry professionals to have absolute pitch.
How do you site a book as a source on Wikipedia? It was written by Music critic and Grammy committee member, Kim Youngdae, in the book, “BTS: the Review”. This book also lists an interview with music producer, Brother Su, who produced the BTS song “I Need U”. He states in the book that Jungkook has perfect pitch.
This article also lists a number of artists besides Jungkook, including Jimi Hendrix, who also had perfect pitch and they are not on the Wikipedia list.
https://www.musicalmum.com/famous-singers-and-musicians-and-with-perfect-pitch/
This list needs to be updated and the current list of people needs to be verified because many of the sources listed there are not different than the ones listed for Jungkook. Obviously, for some artists to be added with questionable sources and for others to be excluded, is going to continue to be a problem. RMax8 (talk) 06:17, 30 July 2022 (UTC)
- The linked article seems to have been written by (as far as the about page tells), two individuals with no other credentials to their name. They don't provide their own sources or criterion for their inclusion. Frankly, it just seems like a rehash of other "list of people with perfect pitch" arricles that exist on the internet that doesn't provide any additional facts or information (what is actually needed for Wikipedia).
- As for the mentioned music industry professional, I'm unable to find anything that verifies the information, either verifying that said professionals actually states those or, again, verifying that he actually has perfect pitch according to said professionals. Verifiability is another requirement for content on Wikipedia, see the linked page for information. Chlod (say hi!) 06:40, 30 July 2022 (UTC)
- I was recently able to confirm that the book in question does contain an excerpt about Jungkook's perfect pitch. If the quote is acceptable enough, Jungkook's name could be added to the table with the accompanying book citation. As an aside, for anyone else who has eyes on this discussion (namely the people who want JK on the list), while it is widely known (and occasionally mentioned by Korean news media as per some of the Naver/Daum examples) that JK has perfect pitch, it's not usually discussed in detail, as has been done in some of the listed sources for other singers/musicians in the table. Just to expand on points previously made by both OhNoitsJamie and Chlod, this recent Rolling Stone interview contains the following: "'He's a low-key prodigy,' says Puth. 'He has perfect pitch and can recall any note on the spot, which I found very impressive.'" Although RS is a reliable secondary source, it quoting Puth saying that about JK is different to a music journalist or critic publishing a piece via RS and writing the same about him in it, or RS quoting an actual certified music/vocal expert on the subject. That is the kind of coverage required. If you still don't understand the requirements after all the explanations provided, well honestly there's no way to make it any plainer. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 23:44, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
- Chlod and/or Ohnoitsjamie, could either of you review the quote from the book and confirm whether or not it's good enough to be used? -- Carlobunnie (talk) 05:37, 13 October 2022 (UTC)

Active canvassing target
editI found it odd that this list has been recently under a lot of targeted fire. Upon investigation, this article is the subject of a viral tweet. This is a notice to all those involving themselves for this reason: Wikipedia is not a battleground. You are expected to, at a minimum, remain civil. For those wishing to join in discussions, please read our guidelines for acceptable sources on Wikipedia. Just because it is on the internet, it doesn't mean it's allowed. Specifically for sources on Korean pop culture sources, consult Wikipedia:WikiProject Korea/Reliable sources to see if a source has been deemed unreliable. Gossip websites and other questionable news sources where factual accuracy is disputed are not allowed. Lastly, Wikipedia works on a model of consensus. Many users "voting" to include someone in the article will not change the article. Provide proof from reliable sources, and discuss from there. Chlod (say hi!) 05:46, 30 July 2022 (UTC)
This is actually not true. This happened earlier this year and Jungkook was wrongfully removed then. There has been an ongoing issue with this list since then Most recently, at the end of June 2022 and in July of 2022, a current artist on the Wikipedia list (Charlie Puth) mentioned in multiple interviews that Jungkook has perfect pitch. It’s not from a “gossip” site, these are his own words. This has caused the topic to gain attention again. RMax8 (talk) 06:24, 30 July 2022 (UTC)
- @RMax8: I've been watching this article since it was first recreated as a split of Absolute pitch. Even the article history corroborates that the article has been stable for quite some time now, only gaining traction recently after some new eyes found out that Jungkook was removed. Multiple unrelated editors don't just pop up all of a sudden with the exact same interests at the exact same time frame. Chlod (say hi!) 06:30, 30 July 2022 (UTC)
Furthermore, isn’t video evidence deemed reliable? There is not video evidence of every person on the list. However, there is a video of Jungkook peforming a “perfect pitch” test and he does it correctly.

The articles listed described the perfect pitch test and the outcome. I would think that would qualify because it is not an opinion piece but merely just facts presented in the article. RMax8 (talk) 06:55, 30 July 2022 (UTC)
