Incorrect Start Times

This deserves its own topic. I am pasting my response to another topic here. Many of the start times for the acts especially on the first night, are not accurate, including that Richie Havens played for 2 hours. There is a Real-time broadcast of the event based on the work of archivist Andy Zax called Woodstock — As It Happened — 50 Years On is possible thanks to Rhino Entertainment’s Back to the Garden, a new Woodstock 50th anniversary collection. Hour long set?

Tim Hardin played an HOUR long set? With only TWO songs? Life magazine's reporters say it was a 15 minute set.

The newly released 6 CD Box set "Woodstock 40 years On" has included many new unreleased tracks from several artists from Woodstock. Hardin also performed the songs "Hang Onto A Dream" and "Simple Song Of Freedom" , possibly among others. There is no doubt, with this boxset released, the setlists on this article are showing to be incomplete in many instances. 123torrent (talk) 02:33, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

Santana's Last?

Soul Sacrifice was the last announced song of the set, however they returned for one encore and that was Fried Neckbones. I've heard the raw tapes as proof, and the newly released Woodstock Experience Santana 2CD set also confirms. 123torrent (talk) 02:29, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

Country Joe and Sebastian timing?

Robert Spitz's and Pete Fornatale's books have Country Joe and John Sebastian going on Friday after Richie Havens, with a good amount of detail as to how that happened. Absolutely 100% true is Sweetwater played after Swami's speech following Havens. Country Joe played both Saturday (solo acoustic including "I'm fixin' to die") , and Sunday with his band The Fish (electric where they did NOT reprise Fixin-to-die). What's not clear is whether Sebastian really did play Friday or Saturday. It is pretty much the only question mark on the performances order that I can see. My theory is it was Friday because what is known is he was asked to go on to play for the crowd while they scrambled to put together the artist lineup for the rest of the day (much like Havens was put in the same position to open the festival). Friday, the first day, was the only day they were in a mess with getting artists in. By saturday they had worked out a fairly smooth in/out transport system with helicopters. 123torrent (talk) 02:09, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

Order of performances potentially mixed up

According to Life Magazine, this order is quite incorrect. Life lists The Incredible String Band as having performed after John Sebastian, who performed soon, if not directly, after Richie Havens. After TISB, Life lists Tim Harding (as does the Wiki). This is just one example of many discrepancies between the two articles.

Country Joe Fixin-To-Die twice?

Country Joe is listed on several sources as doing Fish Cheer/Fixin-To-Die twice, once during his solo set, and again with the Fish. Is this true? Elsquared (talk) 05:16, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

Creedence Start time?

List of performances and events at Woodstock Festival → List of performances and events at Woodstock – "Woodstock" is clearly the common name for the event and the primary topic for the name "Woodstock." Also "*** events at Woodstock Festival" is somewhat awkward wording; if this were the common name, the title should probably be "List of performances and events at the Woodstock Festival." Note that I would support a move of Woodstock to Woodstock (festival) with "Woodstock" as a primary redirect to the latter, since, while the former is definitely the primary topic, it's not the primary topic by a huge margin, as opposed to, say, Chicago or Los Angeles. • Initial Oppose but will keep watch on the discussion. I think 'Festival' is appropriate for this page because there were a few later concerts using the name 'Woodstock' at the same or nearby sites. This page is for the line-up and events of the 1969 original. The Grease Band "40,000 Headmen" and/or "Rockhouse"?

Currently the section on Joe Cocker and the Grease Band lists songs #1 and #2 as "Who Knows What Tomorrow May Bring" and "40,000 Headmen" before song #3 "Dear Landlord", as does woodstock.com. But the Rhino Definitive 50th Anniversary track list shows "Rockhouse" and "Who Knows What tomorrow May Bring" as songs #1 and #2 before "Dear Landlord". Supposedly the Rhino 38-CD set is complete and in chronological order. Should Wikipedia add "Rockhouse" before "Dear Landlord", or is there some other explanation? If someone with the 38-CD set could verify the tracks it would be helpful. CuriousEric 13:52, 18 August 2019 (UTC)

I have added "Rockhouse" to the Joe Cocker set list with a reference to the Rhino track list. And added a reference for "40,000 Headmen" at woodstock.com, although it's not listed on the Rhino website. CuriousEric 16:22, 2 September 2019 (UTC)

Listing the band members

A few weeks ago, a 38-disc box set of all (well, almost all) of the music from Woodstock was released by Rhino Records. It's called Woodstock – Back to the Garden: The Definitive 50th Anniversary Archive. The Rhino website has the track listing for the album, here. That includes a listing of who played in which bands. So it seems to me that this information -- the musicians who were in the bands, and what instruments they played -- can be added to the article. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young song title "Wonderin'", not "I'm Wonderin'"

In the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young section, acoustic track #8 is listed as "I'm Wonderin'" but the paragraph at the end of the section lists the track as "Wonderin'". The article should be consistent and show only one spelling.

The Rhino website and woodstock.com both list it as "I'm Wonderin'".

But the spelling "Wonderin'" is listed in the articles for albums Everybody's Rockin', Live at the Fillmore East, and The Archives Vol. 1 1963–1972. It is also listed in a copyright search at HFA Songfile as written by Neil Young, but "I'm Wonderin'" is not.

"Wonderin'" appears to be the correct spelling. I will make the change. CuriousEric 19:15, 5 September 2019 (UTC)

New references needed

The first page linked to is not related to Woodstock and the second page is no longer available. It seems that Rolling Stone has removed both stories from its online edition. Mikenlesley (talk) 12:54, 19 June 2021 (UTC)
