editI've removed the link to Drumneg as the page Drumbeg refers to a village in Ireland and not in Sutherland. New (as an editor) to Wikipedia, so still learning. If someone wants to create a new page and link, please do so. Ian --Ormers (talk) 15:33, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Duplicates
editYou may find there is a lot of duplicates, meaning villages/towns with the same name. Just found one there, Camusnagaul which is a small village in Dundonnell up north of Scotland, which of course, is also a village across from Fort William. It will take some time to sort them out, even finding them is a hassle, google maps doesn't find duplicates, although multi-map does. The duplicates really need to stay in, until we can link them. scope_creep (talk) 22:22, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
Unreferenced
editWhat is the source of this list? I'm sure that some of these places are really just a single house/farm. E.g. Aundorach is one house in the hamlet of Tulloch and isn't referenced from anywhere else. --JBellis (talk) 20:03, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
Merge
editWell, the Highland region and the area controlled by the Highland council, are different areas. This article is integrated into a group of geographic Scottish council articles, which define all the towns and villages, like Perth and Kinross, Argyll and Bute, List of places in Renfrewshire etc, in Scotland, for a particular council. These are all linked. If anything, the List of places in Highland Region really needs to be removed. The Scottish Highlands article already defines all the major towns and villages that are in the Highlands region, so why not remove it. NO to merge.scope_creep (talk) 15:49, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
- The Scottish Highlands is not the same as the area controlled by Highland council (Highland Region) and a list of places in each is probably worthwhile. The "current" merge proposal (List of places in Highland and List of places in Highland Region) refer to the same area and they should probably be combined (removing List of places in Highland Region). The List of towns and villages in the Scottish Highlands (extracted from Scottish Highlands article) is now on its own. Renaming it List of places in the Scottish Highlands might lead to confusion with the Scottish council articles. Finavon (talk) 19:20, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Talisker
editCan I put in a plea for Talisker? It is now very small indeed and I wouldn't go to the wall to defend its right of inclusion, but (a) Talisker Bay is a much visited (and beautiful) sandy beach, (b) Talisker was the historical seat of one of the more prominent and long established branches of the Clan Macleod, and (c) Talisker (like many places in Skye) was a more populated place in the past. And of course the whisky has brought it a degree of fame... 45ossington (talk) 05:21, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
- I agree with this. There are a few good reasons to include it, plus we must always take (often deliberately induced) loss of population into account.--MacRusgail (talk) 17:04, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
Highland REGION please
editI think that the move should have been the other way round. Apart from the fact that I find the name "Highland" a bit blunt, it is also incredibly confusing for most people since it is NOT the same as the Scottish Highlands.--MacRusgail (talk) 17:02, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
