editThis article quite obviously needs a bit of work - work that really should have been done before it was moved to article space. It is entirely unreferenced and incomplete. The first table shows every place between Toowoomba and Bowen with a population of 123,456 at both the 2006 and 2011 censuses - these numbers are quite obviously place holders.
I suggest a move back to AfC until these matters are addressed. -- Mattinbgn (talk) 00:11, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
- I had tagged it as unreferenced, and now have removed the 123,456 numbers and added {{expand list}}. Drafts in Articles for Creation are typically worked on by just the original author; the author of this had not edited it in more than six months. If it's put back there, it is unlikely to be improved, and would likely be deleted six months hence as an abandoned draft. Lists of populated places such as this are customarily considered valid topics, with List of places in South Australia by population and List of places in Victoria by population being parallel to this one. —rybec 00:38, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
- Back in 2010 a number of "List of places in <state> by population" and "List of cities in <state> by population" articles were created and these were all found to be problematic. Almost all of these were eventually deleted or redirected because they weren't being updated. This included List of cities in Queensland by population. List of places in South Australia by population is the only article that has been updated as it was an already established article at the time the others were created. List of places in Victoria by population survived AfD by the skin of its teeth and it has seen very little activity in the past three years aside from a half-hearted attempt to add 2011 census data. Regardless of where this article is located it's unlikely to be improved so I have to agree with Mattinbgn. --AussieLegend (✉) 06:15, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
- I just fixed this article up and updated it, enjoy! Will be fixing up Victoria some time today. SellymeTalk 11:28, 16 February 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for your efforts, but it really requires individual citations. The existing citation is far too generic. Without the ability to easily verify populations the article is going to be problematic. {{Census 2011 AUS}} with the
|link=yes
option can be used for this. While you my update it now, not too far into the future it's going to be out of date and very likely wrong because other editors will change the figure based on local newspaper articles and it won't be fixed because we simply don't have enough editors to monitor the article continuously. This is why the other articles have been redirected or deleted. --AussieLegend (✉) 12:53, 16 February 2014 (UTC)- Adding individual citations is on my todo list, will probably get that done today.
