If Stack (geology) is to be believed some of our better known stacks such as Stac an Armin are not realy "sea stacks" but rather volcanic stacks. I will have a further look round but if so then either there need to be two lists or (better I think) the list should list as many stacks as possible but be renamed to "List of stacks of Scotland" or similar. I note that List of sea stacks includes several offshore examples. Ben MacDui 17:45, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

At present the structure is:

  • larger and well-known stacks in alphabetical order in a main list with details
  • a simple listing of 'other stacks' by geographical area.

It is becoming apparent that some of these 'other stacks' are quite substantial - 40 metres (130 ft) and more - and thought needs to be put into further development. Most of the 'others' are in pretty remote locations and it is unlikely any article much bigger than a stub is likely to be written about them. List of oldest buildings in Scotland uses age regardless of location, so having a listing by height split into separate lists e.g. >40m, >20m etc. might work. However if there are lots of red links or unlinked stacks, doing the whole list by geographical area could be better. However, this would mean losing the ability to order by height etc. across the board. Some combination of the two is also a possibility. Ben MacDui 08:06, 22 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Not at all easy to get heights for the 'smaller' i.e. < about 50m stacks so I have just left the structure in place. Ben MacDui 12:56, 6 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
