Songs performed live
editDo we really need this section? Rufus has performed a number of songs that he hasn't recorded. I think it's pretty difficult to keep track of all those songs. Plus, some of the titles may be just speculation. I think it would be good if this article focused primarily on songs that have been recorded. Melinoe (talk) 11:09, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- Well, live or recorded, they are his songs (and that is what the list is for, afterall). The only problem is confirming that they exist. I know they do, as I listen to them all the time, but it is hard to find a reliable, third-party source to confirm that they exist. However, I think they should be included, if possible. --Another Believer (Talk) 17:40, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- Update: I found reliable sources for "Christmas is for Kids", "Who Are You New York", and "Zebulon", though it is possible these might be recorded and released in the future. At least, for now, they can count as live original songs. --Another Believer (Talk) 01:22, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- As far as unreleased stuff goes, rufus.jt.org has always been my reference point, but fan sites probably don't count as reliable sources. There are a couple of song listed there that aren't mentioned here. I know that they "exist" because I've got them in my collection. Just wondering whether we should add those old songs (e.g. "A Rose That Needs Some Water" or "In Heaven") that seem impossible to confirm. Melinoe (talk) 14:17, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- Good question. Well, the Unreleased section should be for songs that have been recorded and copyrighted, but have yet appear on any release (for example, "Bitter Tears" is listed at ASCAP). The other songs you mentioned could be added to the live section, and cited whenever possible. You are right that fan sites are not reliable--I'd stick with newspapers or other "official" sites. Should there ever be future attempts to upgrade this article to Good or Featured status, unreferenced material would have to be removed. However, until then, it might be worth adding the songs, or at least listing them here so that we can work on adding them in the future. I am glad I found another Wainwright fan on here to tackle this together! --Another Believer (Talk) 16:39, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Linking
editAccording to the Manual of Style, one case for repeated linking is "tables, in which each row should be able to stand on its own". I had previously removed duplicate linking, thinking that was standard procedure, but I will try to add links back, as preferred. --Another Believer (Talk) 16:46, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Author of Coeur de Parisienne
editThe article currently names Arletty as the composer/author of Coeur de Parisienne. Apparently Arletty performed this chanson in the 1931 movie "Un chien qui rapporte" but is there any evidence that she also derserves credit as composer? I don't see any evidence in the given sources. 84.190.233.183 (talk) 01:17, 6 August 2011 (UTC)
House of Rufus
editNote: This list needs to be updated with previously-unreleased tracks from the House of Rufus box set. --Another Believer (Talk) 15:52, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
