Dubious Statement
edit"With the signing of the Heligoland-Zanzibar Treaty in 1890 during Ali bin Said's reign, Zanzibar became a British protectorate.[8]"
This is a highly dubious statement. The agreement between Britain and Germany did not make Zanzibar a British protectorate. The agreement between Britain and Germany involved a number of things, one of which was that Germany agreed not to interfere in relations between Britain and Zanzibar.
Zanzibar did not become a British protectorate until the lost the 1896 war against Britain.Eregli bob (talk) 03:54, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
First sultan of Zanzibar
editSaid ibn Sultan
editThe first sultan of Zanzibar was Said ibn Sultan 1832 - 1856, and not his son Majid ibn Said. The sultans list should be corrected. A good reference to al Said dynasty is given in: Ahmed Hamoud al-Maamiry,``Omani Sultans in Zanzibar`` Delhi 1988, ISBN 8170950066. --Altaye (talk) 15:30, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
