Regarding imortance of the subject: this paper by a couple of mining engineers cites approvingly a statement by some of their peers that: “Tailings storage facilities typically represent the most significant environmental liability associated with mining operations.” Major tailings dam breaches occur about once a year somewhere in the world and they are serious events -- Communpedia Tribal (talk) 01:23, 21 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
