editJust to be clear, Biden is officially a 7-term senator.
He double dipped in 2008 (as Delaware state law allows you to do), running both as Obama's running mate and for his senate seat.
He won both elections, was sworn in as senator on January 3rd, 2009, served a few days of his 7th term, then resigned to become VP on January 20.
