Can 'someone' sort out Bromborough Urban District and Bebington and Bromborough (and also point Higher Bebington and Lower Bebington in the right direction)? Jackiespeel (talk) 17:08, 21 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi, from what I understand there were three urban districts created in 1894 - Bromborough Urban District, Higher Bebington Urban District & Lower Bebington Urban District. In 1922 these three merged together to form Bebington and Bromborough Urban District; in 1933 this was renamed Bebington Urban District, before it was then abolished in 1937 to become the Municipal Borough of Bebington. Hope this helps. Doc77can (talk) 21:46, 21 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
The library computer was running out of time and with Bromborough UD I set the link to create an article for B&B UD rather than the Metropolitan Borough of B&B which it should be - so wanted someone to sort it out.

All the external links I add to articles are correct as of the time of the article's creation. Jackiespeel (talk) 22:41, 21 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

The location of the archives is mostly found through The National Archives 'Discovery' website. Jackiespeel (talk) 16:34, 30 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Corrections

I have just corrected several mistakes. Quite a few of the districts which had been listed (especially in Wales) were not in fact created in 1894, but have been inaccurately recorded on Vision of Britain, which I assume was the main source for this page. I will gradually put them in the right places, but the ones I have corrected are:

Created 1894 but not previously listed:

  • Machynlleth

Not created 1894 but were listed:

  • Amlwch (1901)
  • Ammanford (1903)
  • Bedwas and Machen (1912)
  • Berkhamsted (1898)
  • Betws-y-coed (1898)
  • Buckley (1897)
  • Burry Port (1903)
  • Connah's Quay (1896)
  • Cwmamman (1912)
  • Earsdon (1897)
  • Fishguard (1907)
  • Goodwick (1923)
  • Kingsbury (1900 - was part of Wembley UD 1894-1900)
  • Llanwrtyd Wells (1907)
  • Llanrwst (1897)
  • Mynyddislwyn (1903)
  • Narberth (1902)
  • Neyland (1900)
  • Newcastle Emlyn (1897)
  • Prestatyn (1896)

Moved to 1895 creations, not 1894:

  • Ashton-upon-Mersey
  • Mallwyd
