Jack Kerouac was a native of Lowell, MA, a prophet without honor in his own country. Today, there a park dedicated to him which, appropriately, consists of about a dozen very large tombstone-like slabs containing quotations of his work. He wrote The City and the Town, about a man rather like Kerouac and a city rather like Lowell.
