It's not about friendship as stated, it's a song for Noel's mother. I think that should be corrected. Here's the source: http://members.lycos.nl/tristanvdv/music_lyrics_db.php?id=01103

Oasis songs have muddeled lyrics and are often about a few things. The "friends" referance can be found on the definitely maybe dvd.--Crestville 09:30, 30 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
That source says it's "for" his Mum, not necessarily about her.--Crestville 09:31, 30 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
In the Britpop film 'Live Forever', I think Noel says he nicked the melody from the Stones' Shine A Light, should that be put in somewhere? -- 09:35, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, definately. I only watched that the other day and I've been meaning to do the same. Could you get the name of the building where he wrote the songs?--Crestville 11:40, 20 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

but the melodies of the two songs have nothing in commnon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.250.233.100 (talk) 18:00, 11 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Live Forever Single Cover.jpg

edit

Image:Live Forever Single Cover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

writer credits

edit

the article states that the vocal melody is lifted(or "stolen") from a rolling stones song, didn't they ever claim writer credits?(similar to bittersweet symphony) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.183.180.164 (talk) 08:22, 19 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

GA Review

edit

This review is transcluded from Talk:Live Forever (Oasis song)/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.

  • Everything eles looks fine. The only thing I have any concerns with is that the "Music videos" section is unreferenced. I'm not sure the lead needs to be two pars, but that's no biggie. Once the Music Videos section is referenced, it should be a pass. Peanut4 (talk) 19:33, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
The musis videos themselves are references. Is there anything in particular you want referenced? WesleyDodds (talk) 08:47, 23 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
If that's policy then no worries. But the following statements could theoretically be challenged.
  • "Two music videos were made for "Live Forever" for British and American airplay."
  • "Some of the UK version of the promo video was filmed at the Strawberry Fields memorial, the area of New York City's Central Park dedicated to John Lennon."
  • "The house on the cover of the single is 251 Menlove Avenue, the childhood home of Lennon."
  • "Both videos are included on the 2004 Definitely Maybe DVD." Peanut4 (talk) 22:27, 23 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
The Definitely Maybe features both videos, so that is a reference. You can see Strawberry Fields in the UK video. I could probably do without the single cover trivia. WesleyDodds (talk) 00:50, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • I think the article would be better for those claims to be referenced. This link would do for points 1 and 4. I'd keep the single cover info in, although I can't find a WP:RS online. I'm sure one will exist somewhere in print. And I can't find anything on the promo video at this moment. Peanut4 (talk) 02:03, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
I can try and find a ref for the first point, but there's no need for one for the fourth one, because it says in the prose that the DVD has both videos, so inline citing the DVD would be redundant and unnecessary. It's the same reason you don't have to cite the songs that appear on an album, or the name of a chapter in a book; it's clearly indicated on the primary source and not really challengeable. Two sugars

edit

I recall hearing an acoustic version performed by Noel (not Liam) where "Your the same as me/Take two sugars in your tea" replaced the lyric "We seen things they'll never see". Was wondering if this or other variations are something Noel has done a few times, enough to maybe be notable and mentioned in the writing and lyrics of the song. -- Horkana (talk) 20:31, 22 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Liam included the "two sugars" line also, can't remember what gig that was at in 1994. But also, when they were in America for the first time he deliberately changed the lyric to "Maybe, I don't really wanna know how you pick yer nose" to offend Noel. I think that may have been the very bustup that Noel had with Liam, resulting in Noel disappearing for a few days, staying with a fan and writing "Talk Tonight"?
