The Official Name Of The Station

edit

Would somebody please explain why the Wiki Page is titled "Liverpool TV" and the article states that the former name of the station is "Local TV Liverpool"?

The official web site of Local TV shows the station to be named "Local TV Liverpool", the Facebook page of the station is "Local TV Liverpool", the article its-self refers to the sister stations as all being named "Local TV city_or_town_name" and all the TV schedules listings sites refer to the station as "Local TV Liverpool".

A web search reveals no indication that just "Liverpool TV" is ever used to refer to the station.

The only instance of just "Liverpool TV" being used is in the DVB transmission service name. It is customary for service names in DVB transmissions (both satellite and terrestrial) for long names to be abbreviated or truncated so that the name shown on receiver displays is discernible without the service name having to be horizontally scrolled to reveal the full name, some examples being "BBC R1X" (not the official name BBC Radio 1 Xtra), "BBC R5L" (not the official name BBC Radio 5 Live"), "BBC R Scot" (not the official name BBC Radio Scotland). 83.99.11.74 (talk) 15:31, 7 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

As per this reference[1], the name reverted back to Liverpool TV from Talk Liverpool at some point earlier this year ahead of TalkTV's closure. I think at the time I requested the page be moved, the uklocal.tv website was down, I assume that's the one you're talking about? If the name has changed (yet again!) feel free to update the article.
