I went ahead and added this article to WikiProject Schools, and I added the "School's Portal" link to the main page. It looks kind of cramped under the picture, but I don't know much about changeing layouts, so I thought I'd leave it for somebody else to change. --JCowe 19:36, 11 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Education?

edit

Apart from marching, sport, drama and a prediliction for anagrams (or rather an anagram), does anything educational happen here. I think we should be told. Emeraude 16:32, 14 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Honestly, if you want to get specific, JJ Pearce in Richardson always has the highest test scored and rates consistently higher than its district counterparts. Basically all Berkner has going for them is their football team and band. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.74.194.136 (talk) 12:51, 09 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Enrollment

edit

Is there a reference for the 3658 number, or was it really vandalism? ~ BigrTex 23:14, 29 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

edit: yes, the 2005-2006 berkner high school year book had that number. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.244.183.205 (talk) 21:53, 26 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Bias

edit

I attempted to remove some bias from the article, but there are still many unverified facts and opinions in the article. KerryA 07:20, 23 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Who is biased?

edit

The post from the JJ Pearce student or alum shows more bias than the original article. BHS has National Merit Scholar Semi-finalists, Honor societies for foreign languages and the visual arts, a full range of AP courses and the orchestra has won state and national awards. Of course I'm bragging as mom and teacher, but Berkner has a lot more than band and football.Kathmk 03:11, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

BHS has a long history of National Merit Scholars. In fact, I was one of eight National Merit /Finalists/, not Semi-finalists, of the class of 2003. In 2003, BHS had more NM Finalists than any other school in the district, IIRC. Additionally, during my tenure at BHS, the school excelled in many academic competitions. I am most familiar with our accomplishments in Math and Physics competitions such as the McNab, the UIL math contests, and the TEAMS competition, but I understand that we had accomplished students in many other fields (of academic competition) as well. WikiProject class rating

edit

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 10:21, 10 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Are the fights that occur at the school necessary for this article? Joedaddy09 (talk) 06:15, 25 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Updated

edit

Corrected school colors and updated enrollment data. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.122.193.111 (talk) 00:37, 6 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

The school's website states the colors are green and white. Please provide sources for information you wish to add. Regards Tiderolls 00:40, 6 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
I will updated the Principal because the school has a new principal named Henry Hall replacing Ron Griffin. [1] sourcing from the official page. --Azndrumsticks (talk) 20:52, 9 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
Also the link needs to be updated to the correct because the current link is outdated :P --Azndrumsticks (talk) 20:53, 9 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

School Picture

edit

Some schools have a picture posted on their Wiki, I was wondering if anyone knows how to add that to the page. I would love to see what the school looks like. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.200.221.149 (talk) 21:05, 6 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Image Requested has been added so that someone can find or contribute one. --Arg342 (talk) 19:02, 13 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
I tried to add an front view of the school but it was rejected. I would like to know what was wrong with the picture. I can personally go take a picture of the school if it deems necessary. Azndrumsticks (talk) 18:30, 18 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
I have found a school picture from the school website. [2] Azndrumsticks (talk) 22:51, 20 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
I will go physically take a picture on this following monday of Berkner High School, the front view that is... --Azndrumsticks (talk) 20:56, 9 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Article Reads Like A Recruiting Pamphlet

edit

This article in general reads like a recruiting pamphlet as in all it talks about are its accomplishments but nothing truly notable. It should be rewritten in a way that it doesn't just list out various awards and such. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tkent91 (talkcontribs) 06:12, 19 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

The Berkner Band First Place in the 2013 Centennial Marching Festival

edit

They received Best in Class Captions in Prelims and First in Captions General Effects, Music, and Percussion.

There is a problem because it redirects it to the Burbank, Illinois wikipedia page which it should not had been redirected towards as either a page should be created for such matter or it shouldn't had redirected to an unrelated page of such subject. Problem has been resolved long while ago. Azndrumsticks (talk) 21:51, 9 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Stem Academy section

edit

I am going to add a Stem Academy section which is the school within the school at Berkner. However, I cannot create a separate article specifically for it because it does not independently stand as a school nor does it have its own individual building. It would have its own infobox but will still be within the same article. Azndrumsticks (talk) 00:49, 20 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Oppose infobox, oppose any more than a mention in the academics section unless reliable independent sources are provided. John from Idegon (talk) 01:02, 20 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
