Talk:Local eGovernment

Latest comment: 6 years ago by InternetArchiveBot in topic External links modified

In this entry discussion of local e-government looks really narrow and biased. Local e-government is a local instance of e-government and is thus basically very similar to the concept of e-government. What is special in "local" e-government is the nature and role of local authorities as a government that is closest to the citizens in the political-administrative system and provides usually wide range of local public services to citizens and customers. Aldo responsibility in local development is important feature of modern self-governing local authority. There are also some special concepts that are attached to local e-government, such as e-municipality, virtual city etc. which should also be clarified. There are some useful books (e.g. Local Electronic Government: A Comparative Study by Helmut Drüke, Routledge, 2005) and a wide range of relevant articles in Electronic Government-An International Journal, Journal of Government Information, Information Polity, IJEGR, EJEG etc. and in the references like the Encyclopedia of Digital Government (IGR 2007) or Electronic Government: Concepts, Methodologies, Tools, and Applications (published in 6 volumes by ISR 2008). There are a lot of useful web sources as well, of course. These are just quick first thoughts. Anyone has time to start chewing this and contributing to wiki? best, Ari-Veikko (kuaran@gmail.com)
