OK, I do know that the Erie Canal ain't got a Lock No. 1 but I still stick by the move. -- RHaworth 17:15, 11 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

I was thinking all of the Mississippi river locks could be renamed "Mississippi River Lock and Dam No. X", I don't think "Lock and Dam No. 1, Mississippi River" is right, seems against naming convention used by other articles, maybe "Lock and Dam No. 1 {Mississippi River)" would be better. I don't know how many other rivers have lock and dam systems that are numbered (in english), but I would think it would be proper to disambiguate, just in case. A quick search of HAER shows a few numbered lock and dams on the Ohio river, Ouachita River, Monongahela river, Kanawha River and possibly more. --Dual Freq 20:44, 24 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
This article really should be named "Lock and Dam number 1" to be consistent with all the other lock and dam articles on the Mississippi. If it must be disambiguated, Mississippi River should be in parentheses, not appended with a comma, per Wikipedia naming conventions. ●DanMSTalk 03:05, 5 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

map is wrong

edit

The location of the red dot on the map alleging to show the location of this lock and dam is wrong. It is about 80 miles too far west, placing it in the western plains of Minnesota, and far from any river! T-bonham (talk) 12:47, 10 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hm. It looks right to me, straddling Ramsey and Hennepin Counties. What OS and browser are you using?--Appraiser (talk) 13:55, 10 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
