Is there any reason the entire article has been re-written without any hint to the organisation's questionable legitimacy?!MNc99 (talk) 06:37, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
I've added a section on Lockerz' controversy, and despite 71.199.16.202's protests the rest of Wikipedia appears to have taken it to heart. What do the highers-up make of the section now? I think a little more work should be done to push the negative side of Lockerz, rather than two references linking to one site. If you can contribute, please do. Let me know if anything changes. Cheers. !MNc99 (talk) 00:13, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
- I've removed my neutrality tag to the legitimacy section, since both sides are being represented now. Hopefully we can add more concrete examples and references in the future.Iksnyrk (talk) 02:32, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Below are proposed counter-edits (citations are included) Cheers. ----User:Toughaxe
1. In response to the following statement in the “Legitimacy” section of the entry: “It has been attested that Lockerz is an example of a Matrix scheme.”
• It should be noted in the entry that the claim made in the cited website that Lockerz is a matrix scheme is not supported by evidence. The Lockerz FAQ section of its website clearly explains the rewards system (awarding “PTZ” for certain activities), which states that earning PTZ is an option, not a requirement, to be a member or use the site. The citation to support this claim of a matrix scheme is just the definition of a matrix scheme, which is not an actual citation, and the example given is of the practices of ANOTHER website. In fact, Lockerz does NOT sell personal information; it does not collect tax information, let alone resell it; nor does it require a member to “try” anything at all to participate. “Not only is earning PTZ optional based on what a user chooses to do on the website, but there also is no loss of PTZ if a user simply chooses not to do any activities on the website.”

2. Characteristics of a Matrix scheme as highlighted in the entry include:
“Paying shipping on the item”
• As common with e-commerce practices, Lockerz charges shipping based on the weight of the item(s) as well as the zone to which they are being shipped. However, for items through Redemption (see explanation of a Redemption below), there is no out-of-pocket payment to Lockerz for shipping, as the PTZ cover all shipping costs.

“Allow personal information to be resold to marketing companies.”
• Our privacy policy makes clear what information is and is not provided to third parties and under what circumstances. Lockerz does not resell personally identifiable information to third parties.
Source: http: //lockerz.zendesk.com/entries/515589-privacy-policy
“Send tax information to claim the value of the prize. This contains further personal information that is resold.” • Lockerz does not request, much less require, members provide any “tax” information. To receive a free product, an eligible member need only have a correct address in his/her membership profile.
Source: http: //lockerz.zendesk.com/entries/515589-privacy-policy
“Trial a 'free' credit card, membership or subscription for 30 days. If they do not cancel it in time in exactly the correct way, they are charged for the service.”
• Lockerz does not condition its users ability to become a member nor its members use of PTZ to obtain a free product on any trial of a third party’s product, credit card, membership or subscription.

• Additionally, the following citations have reinforced the fact that Lockerz members have the ability (not a forced action) to earn discounts on items sold on the website over a dozen different ways including watching videos, answering dailies and poll questions, logging in and uploading photos. Lockerz members can choose not to earn PTZ and associated discounts by simply purchasing items on the website’s SHOP section (http://www.lockerz.com/shop).

3. In response to the following statement in the “Legitimacy” section of the entry:
“Complaints have also been made [9] regarding Lockerz' use of "waves", the way it decides who can claim the rewards for which they redeem their points. Many users have alleged that all items on Lockerz can "sell out" within a matter of minutes or even seconds, which infers that Lockerz has only a very limited supply of any redeemable items at the best of times, despite having "over 17 million users in 195 different countries."
• The term “waves” had limited use in 2010 and only in conjunction with what Lockerz refers to as a “Redemption,” which is the event or activity that is being discussed. “Waves” only indicated rounds or phases of a given Redemption. A “Redemption” is a standalone event on Lockerz that offers members a periodic opportunity to redeem PTZ for free (i.e., 100% discounted) products at a rate set by Lockerz on a first-come, first-served basis. Lockerz explicitly informs its users that products are limited in a Redemption and that no one is guaranteed or promised the ability to redeem PTZ for a specific product or any product during a given Redemption. However, Redemptions are recurring events so that users have multiple opportunities to be successful. Redemptions also are not the only outlet for the use or redemption of PTZ. PTZ can be used in an auction setting that Lockerz refers to as 24/7 in order to obtain free products and in SHOP to secure discounts of up to 100% on a variety of products. Both 24/7 and SHOP are available to members on an ongoing basis. Other than requiring all to abide by its Terms of Use and other applicable rules and conditions that are all disclosed, Lockerz does not decide who can and cannot use PTZ in SHOP, 24/7 or a Redemption.
The FAQ section on Lockerz Web sites differentiates and clarifies the processes of both SHOP, 24/7 and Redemptions here:

Proposed Additions/Changes:
4. In the “History” section, the following additions are proposed:
• In January 2011, Lockerz acquired leading photo-sharing site Plixi (formerly known as TweetPhoto).
• In January 2011, Lockerz debuted its first original Web series, “The Homes,” starring Chelsea Kane (“Jonas L.A.,” “Dancing with the Stars”).
• In February 2011, Lockerz launched its mobile site.

5. In the profile box on the right-hand navigation bar and the first sentence of the first paragraph, the following changes are proposed:
• Lockerz user number should be updated from 17 million to 18 million.

• The term “Viral Media” in the advertising category is not accurate and should be changed to “Online Media.” Lockerz provides advertisers banner and pre-roll ads, as exemplified throughout site.

What happened to Lockerz?
editI think the wiki needs to be updated for 2014. Here's an article about how Lockerz has been transformed to Ador.
Shutdown/Ador
editMan, forgot about this site until I got an email from Ador today.
Anyway, should some more detail be added about the site's shutdown/Ador?
