Involvement in the original automatic train control system for San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART)
There isn't a mention of Logica's involvement in the development of the original automatic train control system for San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) in the late 1970's/early 1980's as part of the original construction of BART. This was an ambitious and problematic project which overran but was ultimately successful technologically. I can't immediately reference this (needs company reports and newspaper archive access) hence not adding to the main page.
The original automatic train control system was replaced in the early 1990's as BART grew in routes and frequency and the original system had insufficient capacity to expand (and such systems became available as more packaged developments from specialist rail signalling suppliers).
