I have deleted the reference to a Basque cognate and to pre-Germanic (an ambiguous term). The Basque connection is highly speculative, no reference is given (really necessary in a case like this), and are there no other references to this connection online, apart from citations of this article. The clumsy writing style suggests an amateur making guesses.
From the editor BANTASAN'S talk page it appears that s/he has a history, going back some years, of dubious contributions to Wikipedia on matters involving Basque etymologies. S/he presumably knows Basque, but has no firm grounding in comparative historical linguistics, and etymological science in particular. Koro Neil (talk) 20:48, 26 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
