Lokotrans Aréna → Mladá Boleslav Municipal Stadium – Article Lokotrans Aréna should be renamed to Mladá Boleslav Municipal Stadium because Wikipedia generally avoids using commercial names for titles, particularly when they change frequently. This aligns with the established naming convention for municipal stadiums, as seen in articles like Białystok Municipal Stadium. A non-commercial name will also ensure consistency and longevity, given that sponsorship agreements can be temporary, while the location and public function of the stadium remain constant. Oppose. I would like to copy here the answer to your contested technical request from RachelTensions: "Wikipedia generally avoids using commercial names for titles not really true, Wikipedia uses the name that is determined to be most commonly used in English-language reliable sources regardless of whether that happens to be as a result of a sponsorship agreement." Artificially created translation, which has only 6 hits on google (including 2 from wikipedia) is clearly inadmissible. This is not an "established naming convention for municipal stadiums", it is just a one-sided activity without prior discussion and which does not examine what is the most commonly used name for each stadium. Oppose as I stated at WP:RMT, Wikipedia uses commercial names if they're the WP:COMMONNAME. 6 Google results for "Mladá Boleslav Municipal Stadium" (two of which are Wikipedia itself: this article, and yesterday's discussion at WP:RMT), versus over 90,000 for "Lokotrans Aréna" should make this conversation a non-starter. we avoid sponsored names for football stadiums Where does this falsehood keep coming from? We use whatever name is most common (WP:COMMONNAME), whether that be a sponsored name or a non-sponsored name. That's the policy. RachelTensions (talk) 19:04, 30 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oppose. OP cites no sources to establish WP:COMMONNAME. So-called justifications like "sponsored names are temporary" or "we avoid sponsored names", while often trotted out in such discussions, are not supported by any Wikipedia policy. Wikipedia "prefers the name that is most commonly used (as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable, English-language sources.)"162 etc. (talk) 05:40, 31 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
