Merge Proposal
editThe Nuit Blanche (White Night) and the Night of Museums are different things. In several cities, both exist, in France at least, the Night of Museums in May, and the White Night in October usually. Also, the White Night is not restricted to museums, both event should not be mixed up then. PhV 12:53, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
- That's a useful piece of information. Maybe we should have a category for all of these special night-time cultural events? But at the moment there are too many separate articles that don't connect: Nuit Blanche, White Nights, and examples thereof that are just stubs. They really need to be merged. BrainyBabe (talk) 12:39, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
- Expand with no merge: I also believe that Long Night of Museums and Nuit Blanche are two separate things, and while there may be a common influence, they are still different in ways. I agree that any articles under the names Nuit Blanche, with the title in a nother language should be merged into Nuit Blanche (i.e. the recent merge of Notto Bianco), but this article is a separate event that should be left to its own article. - OK, I've improved Nuit Blanche, and adapted its new history section for this article. I'll remove the merge templates and leave it as is. BrainyBabe (talk) 11:21, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
Museums at Night in the UK
editHello, I work at Culture24 in the UK - we coordinated the campaign for Museums at Night in May 2009 and we're also running the 2010 campaign (there's more info on our website here - I'd like to add an external link to this http://www.culture24.org.uk/museumsatnight). I'd also like to update the mention of events in the UK, as participation is not just limited to Great Yarmouth, and link within Wikipedia to Culture24. Is it OK for me to do this, or do I need to ask somebody else to make these changes? Thanks very much for any advice you can give me, RosieClarke (talk) 14:37, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
Merge from Museums at Night (UK)
editI think the initiatives are similar enough to warrant a merger of the smaller, UK one into the pan-European one. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 11:52, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
Oppose - might be a similar concept, but a different name. Article certainly needs more content, but this does not mean it needs to merge into the European article. Warren (talk) 15:11, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
'Oppose' - really because the Museums at Night Festival is its own very clear brand identity within the UK. A quick google on the term provides a lot of hits. Indeed some subsets of the subject are probably large enough in size to merit their own heading. The Late Shows in Newcastle Gateshead being a case in point. TWAMWIR (talk) 13:15, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
Hello! I coordinate Museums at Night in the UK, and will jump in and add some more information to the article about it now. The UK's Museums at Night festival, which stretches over 3 nights, is loosely affiliated with the European Nuit des Musees, one night which always takes place around International Museums Day. However, this initiative is slightly different from the White Night events (confusingly often also called Museums Nights) that happen in other cities around the world all year round. Wikipedia collaboration with the LNoM
editI think we should mention the Wikipedia involvement with some of those projects (ex. in Poland: [1]). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 11:58, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
