editI have come upon the term "favourite longshot bias" which seems to be an aberration in gambling, exploited by those who manage the system to the disadvantage of the gambler. Anyone interested in adding a definition to the longshot choices ? Roop1940 16:54, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
I found, as first of 2 unnamed-opening-section entries, and removed,
- * a racehorse or other sports contender that appears to have little or no chance of winning
bcz that article makes no use of the term, let alone providing more info on e.g. thrill-seeking, thrill-addiction, delusions of being the best informed bettor, or innumeracy, as reasons why long-shots get bet on. Nor on the role of long-shot bettors in ensuring track profitability.
