Who is being parodied?
editIt would be good to include reference to whom the presenters are parodying in series 2, if it can be worked out. The format is overwhelmingly Tomorrow's Worldian but the presenters are quite Blue Peter, it seems to me. That Pamela Bachelor represents Valerie Singleton is beyond doubt in my mind. Peter Packard must be at least partly Peter Purves with elements of James Burke in evidence. Pealy definitely reminds me of someone - who was it?
Thanks! 216.31.219.19 01:30, 28 February 2006 (UTC) The Quantity (owner of a long-lost Blue Peter badge)
- Pam Bachelor is clearly based on Judith Hann ! Also, the second series has elements of The Computer Programme to it - particularly the beige set. 84.68.19.201 14:33, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
Expansion
editI have just notice how this page has expanded, and think that it does Look Around You justice. Thank You and Well Done to the person or people that did this.
Thanks people; Theople --DTR 16:35, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
- It is quite a good article, but i think more trivia and things like that can be added, especially to series 1 which is a bit lacking. -- jeffthejiff (talk) 02:38, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

Wikiquote
editI've created a Wikiquote page for Look Around You, here, but since I've only seen Series One (and that was a while ago), it's missing anything from Series 2, and I think many of the Series 1 quotes may be wrong. Could someone who has seen Series 2 perhaps add these to the list? smurrayinchester(User), (Talk) 14:15, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
- I was going to add some from Series 2, but i couldnt find many good quotes as there are in Series 1. Series 2 has more sight gags really. I'll add a couple though for now. And some more from Series 1 if i watch the dvd again soon. -- jeffthejiff (talk) 18:45, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
Hot Jon
editThe explanation given for Hot Jon is incorrect. I was an extra in the crowd during the filming in October 2004, and I heard exactly what Hot Jon means. It could actually mean one of 4 slightly different things since 4 takes of this scene were done, however none of these 4 takes involves an official trip to the far east.
Any chance you'd care to share these with us? Zetetic Apparatchik 18:07, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
- I was also an extra (I have photos!), and have tried to edit the explanation of the meaning of 'Hot Jon'. The meaning did not change (significantly) between takes. Nick Frost pronounced it 'Ho Hwon' and said that it meant 'sovereign saviour', in reference to Sir Prince Charles. There was also some further explanation that he learnt this in the far east.

- I was an extra too (fun times past, eh?) but didn't hear the entire thing - it was definitely Hoh Hwan though about Prince Charles, not the description in the article... Dotwaffle 23:47, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
- The entry for HOT JON is unclear and needs revision, particularly the sentence "Apparently, "HOT JON" is a phonetic oriental greeting meant to be seen by HRH Prince Charles on an official trip to the Far East, during which the man had met the prince". I haven't actually seen the show, so someone else will have to do it. :) - 152.76.0.130 22:53, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
Easter egg
edit(in Series 2) "There is also an Easter Egg". Well ... tell us what it is, then! 87.112.65.16 19:53, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- Watch the "Testcard" (funky Medibot song) right until the end (you might want to fast-forward, it does go on rather) then you get DVD credits and an alternative ending to episode 2 "Health". -- Muntfish 14:29, 26 February 2007 (UT
- Somthing similar happens on the Season 1 disk too Smithdan86 (talk) 07:02, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
Meme
editThere has been a recurring internet thing where some of the more realistic Look Around You videos have been passed off as genuine videos from yesteryear. I don't know if it is worth mentioning, but it has been happening quite a lot, particularly people uploading it to youtube with comments disabled to improve the illusion that it is in fact genuine JayKeaton 22:01, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Comcast comercials
editthere's a comcast commercial (maybe more than one) that has a very similar format to the look around you videos, with a very similar narrator voice and the background music. worth looking into? --71.234.251.108 00:43, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Helvetica Scenario
edit"Helvetica Scenario" redirects here, but there's nothing on this page about it. Could someone add a bit about that? (I hate it when people do blind redirects to pages that don't have any information about the redirected term.) 76.102.100.52 07:37, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
- Done. Gram123 11:30, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

- The Helvetica Scenario occurs when the central, or "Queen" atom leaves the molecule. Fortunately, it is very rare. -- Blorg (talk) 11:15, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- The segment is also on YouTube. Davepattern (talk) 15:15, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Simon Pegg as King Henry
editThis was in Episode 5 - Computers. I've moved the entry from Episode 1 but forgot to put the reason.
Unnecessary information
editIn series two, episodes 3 & 4, there are a few references to other shows certain actors have appeared in, or their relationships to core cast members, to the point where it strays into pretty random trivia (do we really need to know that one small role was played by someone who also had a small role in Shaun of the Dead?) - I'm proposing that these connections be removed, as IMO they don't add anything to the article and they're distracting. Does anyone have a compelling argument against this? Dom Kaos (talk) 02:18, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
- It's my fault they're there, as I originally added the Special Guests information. The reason I included these connections was because I garnered the information from listenting to the series commentary. Some individuals like Nicola Cunningham (who played a zombie in Shaun of the Dead) are highly unlikely to get their own article, so they'd remain a red-link and the name would likely be unknown to most readers. But she got the role through being associated with that group of comedians.
- So it's not 'random', but I agree that it is trivia, really. I didn't want to add a Trivia section as we're advised to avoid them and integrate the info into the body of the article where relevant.
- I understand your desire to remove the info - I thought twice about adding it in the first place - but I'll leave it up to the wisdom of other wiki users. Gram123 (talk) 16:37, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, "random" was probably a bit strong. Anyway, nobody else has commented either way, so I've removed the pieces of information which don't appear to have any direct connection to Look Around You. I've also got rid of the red wikilinks: if any of the actors in question get their own page, the links can always be re-added Dom Kaos (talk) 12:51, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Comic Con 2010
editIs there any value mentioning there was a panel on the show at the 2010 Comic Con, evidently to promote the DVD being released in the U.S.? Serafinowicz and Popper even premiered a new comedy short, Markets of Britain. Dgabbard (talk) 20:56, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Little Mouse video cast
editWho is the third guy in the "Little Mouse" video? The one in the striped sweater is clearly Peter, but I don't recognize the third one, in the patterned dress shirt. Photo on BBC's website here. 75.187.156.216 (talk) 04:11, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
Clarification?
editMaybe it's just me, but I can't tell if the videos themselves are real. Are the videos really educational videos that have been dubbed over by "Look Around You" or is everything original? I can't possibly be the only one confused about this. Occamsrazorwit (talk) 19:55, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
Everything was made to look old. There might be stock footage of locations, but none of the experiments were dubbed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.70.170.48 (talk) 09:11, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
Unseen Episodes
editIs this section necessary? They are jokes. 145.97.233.48 (talk) 17:00, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
- By that logic there clearly shouldn't be an article about the series in the first place, since it's all a parody. There's nothing wrong with quoting information like the unseen episodes, as long as it as relevant and correct. It's relevant since it's a feature of the show, and it's correct since it's explained above the list that those are bogus episodes referred to in the end of each episode. 1980-1981 Setting - Commentary
editThe commentary to the DVD releases of this series plainly state that the show is set in 1980-1981 - topical references to the Prince of Wales Awards and the "Yellow Pearl" "Top of the Pops" theme tune are included In the shows, both debuting in the early 1980s. The article here originally stated the true facts but was changed in 2016 by a user with I.P. address 86.135.235.2 - without explanation.
Season 2 intended order
editThe articles notes that the listed order for season 2 is not the intended order, but does not clarify what the intended order is. Can this be added? Aquillyne (talk) 19:19, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
