Subsequent appearances - Scott
editThe refs in The Count of Monte Cristo are documented. However, my edition (Gutenberg. sorry no date) has a footnote stating the Countess' is referring to a character in Scott, The Abott, ch. xxii. Not clear whether the footnote is auctorial or editorial. Should be added either as a gloss to the Monte Cristo ref or in its own right if it fits with the topic. Sorry, my desktop is kaput -- I'll add this to my watchlist for now. --23:18, 2 December 2019 (UTC)
