Big Brother
editDid he really give an "acclaimed performance as Big Brother" in Nineteen Eighty-Four for CBS? I only ask because in the novel and every other adaptation with which I am familiar, Big Brother is purely a face appearing on posters, with no acting or speech or performance of any kind involved. Did he, in fact, perhaps play O'Brien, and there has been some sort of mix-up? Angmering 10:51, 20 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Greene performed in a telecast of 1984, which was an episode of Westinghouse's Studio One (a show somewhat like PBS's Masterpiece Theatre). The episode aired September 21, 1953. All sources I can find online state that Greene played Big Brother; but then, I don't necessarily trust the online sources I've found thusfar. The actual episode is archived at the Pop Culture Library at Bowling Green State University, and can be viewed by anyone willing to travel to Bowling Green, Ohio to do it. Any takers? -- SwissCelt 18:45, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
- Hmmmmmmmm, tricky to verify then. It still seems highly unlikely to me, unless they rather drastically changed the plot! Angmering 06:52, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
That photo can't be Greene
editI think that photo is a case of vandalism and needs to be changed. I believe that pic is meant for the Lorne character from the Angel TV show
UPDATE: Photo updated! Awesome!
Another Show
editWasn't Lorne Green in another short-lived TV show? Some "firehouse" type show? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.178.43.135 (talk) 04:28, 8 November 2007 (UTC) ailr of F

Involment in WOW
edit"He gave up on a career in Blacksmithing and, upon graduation, found a job as a Miner for the Miners Guild of Ironforge (IF). He was assigned as the principal cockbuster on the WoW Ladder. The CBC gave him the nickname "Cotane Bluderbuss"; however, his role in delivering distressing war news in sonorous tones following Azeroth's entry into The Horde and Alliance War in 12 BC caused many listeners to call him "The Great betrayer". During his raid days, Greene invented a stopwatch that boosted intellect +10. Its purpose was to help casters gain valueable mana. He also narrated documentary films, such as the Slaying of the Boar's Finding Northrend (15 BC). In 17 BC Greene played the role of the prosecutor in the socially controversial movie Tauren love."
I´m not sure about that... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.63.165.240 (talk) 21:10, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Just wanted to say that I thought this page was very well done! I never saw the above photo of him from his broadcast days. I do believe that David Dortort had used him once in his first Western (prior to Bonanza) and thought he'd be a good Ben Cartwright.- SL —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.183.185.36 (talk) 18:33, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Beethoven
edit"...he was rather incongruously cast as Ludwig van Beethoven in an episode of the televised version of You Are There." Has the author ever seen a picture of Beethoven? Greene looks a great deal like him. I'm going to delete "rather incongruously". WilliamSommerwerck (talk) 04:55, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
Political Affiliation
editAt the bottom of the page, in the "Categories" section, Lorne Greene is described as a "California Republican" (or at least it appears that way on December 24, 2015). Greene was a personal friend of Hubert Humphrey, and even campaigned for him. I think I've seen a picture of Greene campaigning for Jimmy Carter in 1976. Sure, he could have been a Republican before or after those campaigns. But even if he was a Republican for a while, it certainly appears he was NOT a lifelong Republican, not if he campaigned for HHH and Carter. I'm not looking for a debate on the merits of the two parties. I just want the facts. Someone needs to back up the claim that Greene is a Republican, or it should be removed from the Categories list. I could say the same for other celebrities. Occasionally, I'll see someone described as a Democrat or Republican, with no supporting evidence provided anywhere. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.143.202.206 (talk) 02:38, 25 December 2015 (UTC)

confusing sentence
edit"In a biography of him, written by his daughter Linda Greene Bennett, she wrote that it was unknown when he began using the name Lorne, nor when he added an "e" to Green.[2]" What is the "it" she is referring to? Does she mean the name Lorne? It's not an uncommon name in Canada. In fact, it's been common since John Campbell, 9th Duke of Argyll, who was then the Marquess of Lorne, was Governor General of Canada. 2600:1700:BC01:9B0:7CC7:8E82:6053:698C (talk) 19:12, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
