editI think we need a list of bands that are named in this - if I have time I'll do it later.. Secretlondon 16:27, 30 August 2005 (UTC)
Which bands?
editThis track famously lists lots of bands - most of which I can disambiguate. However there are a few which I haven't heard of and as both bands are red links I can't determine which one was meant.
- The Trojans - Trojan Records? Trojan (band)?
- The Outsiders (Dutch band) or The Outsiders (American band)? Secretlondon 05:20, 4 September 2005 (UTC)
- I haven't heard the song, but judging from the other artists listed, I'm almost completely certain it was the Dutch Outsiders that were referred to. The American Outsiders were just too square to be liked by the same type of people that are into Can, The Monks, and The Sonics. —Chowbok 05:17, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure it refers to the British punk band. Aroundthewayboy 06:38, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
Niagara
editThe article was linking to Niagara (band) but this is a French pop duo that broke up in 1992. By the looks of the other artists, I have redirected the link to Niagara (artist) who appears to be the more likely person. However if by chance it is the French group on this CD (after all the Beach Boys are listed, too) then please revert my change. 23skidoo 21:57, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
"Every great song by the Peech Boys" (not the "Beach Boys"). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peech_Boys. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Testdues (talk • contribs) 12:46, 2 November 2017 (UTC) https://www.discogs.com/James-Murphy-Pat-Mahoney-FabricLive-36/master/120797.
I'm pretty sure it is the french pop duo he's referring to, because of their track "Voyage, Voyage", which is a European dj favourite. 78.23.52.209 (talk) 23:29, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
"I heard you have a vinyl of every Niagara record on German import." The band referenced in this lyric is the German band Niagara, which released three LPs in the early 1970s.
Confusing Lyric
editDid anyone notice that the song mentions being at the first can show in 1968, but the Wiki for James Murphy indicates that he was born in 1970? 24.80.160.120 21:16, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
- gasp* Maybe he wasn't really there? Secretlondon 21:19, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
The whole thing shouldn't be taken too seriously (it's all rather tongue-in-cheek.) Read the quote from James Murphy on the Losing My Edge page - it explains the song's meaning rather well ;) 20:59, 15 December 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.165.252.179 (talk)
