Native American or Indian

edit

Anyone know what is the generally accepted term for North American Natives? zorkerz 21:14, 27 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Persons interested in an Amerindian view of Lahontan's work should read: For an Amerindian Autohistory: An essary on the foundations of a social ethic, by Geroges E. Sioui, Ph.D., now at the University of Ottawa. The book is published by McGill-Queen's University Press, and is a translation from the French version, first published in 1991. The colonialist view of Lahonton's work incorrectly labels his work, Dialogues, as fiction, when it actuality it is probably the best written work on an accurate view of Amerindian philosophy and life available at the time. Of course, Lahontan had to be discredited because he directly defied imperialist powers and thinking, which was even more of an anathema then, as now, but the discredit continues as a form of present day continued colonization and imperialist views of the Americas and Amerindian peoples.Siouifan (talk) 18:51, 8 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
