Born into Jansenist family?

edit

"He was born in Paris into a wealthy Jansenist family" -- this seems unlikely. He was born in 1637, and Jansen's Augustinus wasn't published until 1640. So unless his family was connected to Jansen or Duvergier directly, they cannot have been "Jansenists" in 1637.

Is it possible that his family wasn't Jansenist when he was born, but became so in his youth?

(I am leaving aside the contentious question of whether "Jansenist" has a clear meaning.) — Lawrence King (talk) 07:47, 5 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Shorter name?

edit

What would the proper short version of his name be? Louis-Sébastien de Tillemont? Le Nain de Tillemont? Sébastien de Tillemont? Sébastien Tillemont? -- llywrch (talk) 19:57, 7 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
