I agree with wikify,
editbut this has the potential to be a really great article. I never would have thought to make it. My compliments. If someone will give me hints, I'll cheerfully wikify it. V. Joe 02:49, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
Wikified
editWikified as part of the Wikification wikiproject! I did quite a bit of formatting work on the article. JubalHarshaw 19:21, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
Lewis Armstrong, but...
editLouis Armstrong sometimes pronounced himself 'Lewis', as for example on his recording of 'Hello Dolly', but is that the normal American pronunciation of 'Louis'? Louis Jordan, for example? I thought not, that Armstrong was just being playful, but that's what the article says. Rothorpe (talk) 01:01, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
Chlodowech or Chlodowig?
editLouis (UK /ˈluːiː/ or US /ˈluːɪs/; French pronunciation: [lwi]) is the French form of the Germanic given name Chlodowech (Modern German: Ludwig) and one of two English forms
Chlodowech links to the article Clovis (given name), which gives the spelling Chlodowig and makes no mention of Chlodowech.
are either "more correct"? are the essentially the same?
i know that they're both approximations of a name used (according to a documentary i just watched) when the Franks and Clovis I were largely illiterate.—Sensorsweep (talk) 23:12, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
Louise
editwhy isn't Louise listed under Louis_(given_name)#Feminine_Variants, while it's in the infobox as a "Derived" name?—Sensorsweep (talk) 23:43, 3 November 2014 (UTC)

US /ˈluːɪs/
editNot necessarily. Kostaki mou (talk) 19:26, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
For example, the name of the French kings is ALWAYS /ˈluːi/. Kostaki mou (talk) 14:57, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
