Baptized name?

Cyprien-Noé Cyr or Noé-Cyprien Cyr? I'm listening to a documentary that gives the latter. —99.232.14.94 (talk) 19:27, 6 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Units

edit

As stated in WP:UNIT "All other articles: the main unit is generally an SI unit". 135.19.148.107 (talk) 17:45, 27 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Within the historical context of this article, the imperial values should come first. This all happened prior to metrication. Peter Horn User talk 00:36, 1 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
With all due respect I must point out that all feats in the life of Louis Cyr were recorded in terms of imperial units and/or American units. Notwithstanding my personal preference of the metric system I think the article should reflect the historical fact that metrication had not yet taken place. I understand what you are conveying about the US/imperial system being used during Cyr's lifetime, but I think that is irrelevant. What if the units used back then where so antiquated that nobody understood them? (which is not that far from the truth heh heh) would we still be using those units? Besides, WP:UNIT is very clear on that "All other articles: the main unit is generally an SI unit". I have seeked out a third opinion on that matter.   3O Response: The RS, that is, the RS that works, lists the accomplishments as pounds. (Note that one ref is a dead link & one is a commercial related site.) Cyr moved to the US at age 15, and performed in the US as well (even after moving back to Canada). Thus this is a US-centric article. (What were the units being used in Canada at the time?) Pounding the nail on its' head, we should go with ₤-wise. – S. Rich (talk) 00:48, 2 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

That's just stupid. What's the point of having rules and guidelines like WP:UNIT if we're not going to apply them? PlanCartesien (talk) 11:31, 2 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
S. Rich is applying the rules. Directly above the part you quoted, it reads: "In non-science US-related articles: the main quantity is generally expressed in US customary units (97 pounds (44 kg))." – Maky « talk » 18:32, 2 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

!Movie!

edit

A movie has been produced in Quebec about him, might want to add that here. 173.179.61.199 (talk) 17:33, 13 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Birth date October 10 or October 11?

edit

I don't have time to research this but note that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/October_10 lists him, i.e. as being born on 10/10/1863. This page says 10/11/1863. WikiAlto (talk) 00:51, 5 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
