Great scholar and all we have here is a few tidbits about his many years and works
editThis article should have a much more serious presentation of his scholarly work. His multi-volume study of Hallaj has been translated into English and is an important resource for serious study of Sufism and Islam. The article presently relies on Edward Said's shallow critique to dismiss a fundamental and valuable work of real scholarship. Nlight2 (talk) 01:36, 28 November 2013 (UTC)

edit«À ce propos, je me suis demandé si vous vous étiez intéressé au cas de Louis Massignon (le grand islamologue) qui, jeune homosexuel, s’est brusquement converti au catholicisme en 1908. Il était un proche de Maritain. Massignon a été quasiment contraint de se marier avec une cousine (dont il a eu des fils) alors qu’il avait une vocation indéniablement sacerdotale. C’est le pape Pie XII qui lui a donné la permission de passer au rite oriental de sorte qu’il a pu devenir prêtre catholique de ce rite grec-catholique dans les dernières années de sa vie. On lui demandait simplement de célébrer discrètement, soit chez lui, soit dans l’église Saint Julien le Pauvre à Paris (une église qu’aimait beaucoup Julien Green).
