Proposing a revamp
editI volunteer with the Castle Studies Trust which has funded the recent work at Lowther. With that conflict of interest in mind I've prepared a new draft of the article in my sandbox as it mentions the CST and am posting here for feedback from the community. The draft can be found here. Note: I've asked for feedback from WP:ARCHAEO and WP:MILHIST. Richard Nevell (talk) 22:00, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
- Looks fine to me. Get that stub over-written. (If you are really twitchy I would be happy to do the necessary.)
- "a pele tower was established to the south of the ringwork castle." Is it known how far to the south?
- "The project featured on Digging for Britain." Perhaps 'The project featured on the television programme Digging for Britain' for any readers who have never heard of Digging for Britain. Gog the Mild (talk) 22:22, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, Gog the Mild. As the pele tower was roughly on the site of the building later known as Lowther Castle we do have a location so I've added in the distance. And some context for what Digging for Britain is.
- I reckon as long as the consensus here is that the content is ok, I should be fine to copy it over myself (and thanks for the offer!). Richard Nevell (talk) 20:55, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
- Looks fine to me - I added a link etc. Johnbod (talk) 22:46, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you - and the link reminded me that Barnes, London has both a Lowther Road and a Lonsdale Road next to each other which is oddly pleasing. Richard Nevell (talk) 20:03, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
- Richard Nevell, apparently the 2nd Earl of Lonsdale (1787-1872) owned many properties including "a snug villa at Barnes". [1] Alansplodge (talk) 11:23, 21 March 2024 (UTC)
- Perhaps with a snug lady installed: "Lord Lonsdale never married, but acknowledged three illegitimate children born to opera singers or dancers; he left them substantial sums in his will." Johnbod (talk) 13:29, 21 March 2024 (UTC)

- Your draft looks fine; I see no signs of puffery, undue weight, etc. that are often associated with COIs.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 19:09, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you - hopefully I can convince a photographer who was there to release some photos under an open licence. Richard Nevell (talk) 20:04, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
Thanks very much for the input everyone, I've copied over the content. Richard Nevell (talk) 19:39, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
