- Luke Bryan is a Sigma Chi from the Eta Zeta Chapter at Georgia Southern. They haven't had a Phi Delt chapter there since the 70s. Tgunby14 (talk) 21:38, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Country Artist
editEven though most of his recents music is either bro-country or country-pop, both of those are just subgenres of country, so he is clearly still a country artist. To my knowledge, he has not released any songs at all that aren't either country or a subgenre of country. Furthermore, some of his recent songs that aren't released as singles, such as "Little Boys Grow Up and Dogs Get Old" are just straight up country. Therefore it makes no sense to add an early to the country in the infobox. JDDJS (talk) 21:22, 19 November 2015 (UTC)
- I respectfully disagree with your point. Using your logic, Florida Georgia Line should be country singers too, considering their songs "Dirt" and "Confession" as well as their Anything Like Me EP. I don't see any reason why Luke Bryan is so different from Florida Georgia Line. I apologize if this is original research or edit warring, but I think for both FGL and Luke Bryan, their bro songs outweigh their actual country songs. Just my 2 cents. --Jack Gaines (talk) 17:17, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
I think that you're right. FGL skilled be classified as Country in addition to Bro-country. JDDJS (talk) 22:57, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
- No, but it makes sense to include the general category first. I think we should keep FGL as bro-country, but change Luke Bryan's infobox from Country, country pop, bro-country to Bro-country, country, country pop. It just makes better sense to include the primary (ie, majority of his music) first, then the secondary, etc. --Jack Gaines (talk) 23:09, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
Luke Bryan's primary genre is country. He has not released a single song that isn't country. Anything that is Bro-country is still country. Anything that is country pop is also still country. Less than half his songs are Bro-country and less than half his songs are country pop, but 100% of his songs are country so it's only logical to list that first. I request that Luke Bryans interest in fishing be added to this wikipedia page, simply mentioning it - there a a good amount of reliable sources saying he fishes a lot:

A lot of his videos are about fishing and his lifestyle and musical direction also mentions it a lot!

editThe consensus is to describe Luke Bryan as a country singer in the lead.

In a discussion here, it was decided that whether or not to include the genre of an artist in the lead of the article. So should this article refer to him as just a singer in the lead or should it be country singer? JDDJS (talk) 23:29, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
- Country singer He is only known for country and the media almost always refers to him specifically as a country singer and not just as a singer. JDDJS (talk) 23:29, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
- Singer which is an actual occupation. Genre can be discussed in later text within the lead, but using "country singer" in opening sentence is inappropriate as that incorrectly implies his genre is an occupation and needlessly overfills the sentence. Don't pretend like you don't know that. Snuggums (talk / edits) 00:02, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
- Adding one single word does not in anyway overflow a sentence. Country singer is a specific occupation. And don't act like you don't know that there was a clear consensus that genre can potentially be included in the lead. Similar discussions have happened at both Blake Shelton and Tim McGraw and both had clear and strong consensuses to include country in the lead. So your position that it is never okay to have the genre in the lead is clearly against current consensus. JDDJS (talk) 01:07, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
- Country singer - a quick skim through his awards shows that virtually every category he's been nominated for or won has been specifically for country music. The few that aren't are non-specific genre categories. Argento Surfer (talk) 12:54, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
- Country singer. There is nothing wrong with adding a modifier to what kind of occupation he holds, especially when it's extremely easy to verify. dannymusiceditor Speak up! 17:22, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
