Genre consensus
editGreetings all, am dealing with a potentially problematic user regarding in which genres Luke's music would be classified as, so I am seeking consensus before taking further action. Is Luke's work considered significantly Acid jazz in nature, ala Groove Collective, Brand New Heavies, Digable Planets and Stereo MCs? My exposure to his work aligns it more with Acid house, and no tie-in to jazz period is mentioned at all in the article. Thanks all for your time. Srobak (talk) 06:09, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
I take back Luke Vibert, as a key artist in Acid jazz (if key artist means mainstream), but I do think that he is notable, at least in the underground acid jazz scene. As described in the acid jazz article, acid jazz has a give and take with trip-hop, and undoubtedly Luke Vibert has strong ties with that genre. That said, there is (at least I've personally observed) a strong element of jazz in his work (as in for ex. Lover's Acid). And to Srobak, the honest truth is I marked you as a vandal because I looked at your talk page and I saw that you had problems in the past. I know I shouldn't have assumed that, and I should have assumed good faith. If you officially want me to retract it, you tell me where to go. Lighthead þ 18:56, 24 June 2011
