As per the text in the article, it does not seem like Lumonics is a defunct company, rather has restructured multiple times and currently goes by the name Novanta (The company's name was changed to GSI Group in 2005, then finally Novanta, its current name, in 2016.). Novanta still exists but does not have a Wikipedia article, yet a company which (according the article) became Novanta, does have an article.
