Rnpoche’s life and his contribution prior to his appointment as 33rd Menri Triizin

Rinpoche could possible be first Tibetan monk to have shown serious interest in other religious faith, specifically on life of Banendict Christian monks. He may be the first Tibetan monk to introduce religious mask dance in west. Rinpoche took group of monks from Bonpa Monastery in Dholanji, India to France to participate in the Festival of Lille, Grenoble in early 1980. They later toured other parts of France as well where they received rousing welcomed from the crowd. Monks mask dance was widely covered in the French media like Le Mond.

Rinpoche also taught at LSOAS in London, UK while working with Prof. David L. Snellgrow. While in London, he agreed to work with Ockenden Venture to work with them on am ambitious project to set up school for Tibetan refugees in India. It was first ever Ockenden project outside Europe. Beset by internal rivalry, religious discrimination, murder, student mutiny instigated by a cook, unfortunately this Ockenden school for Tibetans had to be closed down in its five years of operation due to domestic politics based on religion, played by few Kalons in TGiE, Dharamsala.
