Luca??
edit- There is no such place: it was called Luca by the British because they were unable to pronounce the name properly. This article's name should be Luqa. the roof of this court is too high to be yours (talk) 17:30, 3 October 2008 (UTC) and triq id Dokkiena
Merge from Luca, Malta
edit- The Luqa article has been in existence since April 2005. Last July, Kyarichy (account now blocked as a sock puppet) moved the article to the archaic and obsolete spelling of Luca, Malta without seeking consensus. Inkwina tried to reverse the move (to Luqa, Malta), but was reverted by Kyarichy. Inkwina subsequently performed a copy-and-paste move from Luca, Malta to Luqa, and the two articles continued to exist separately.
- Naming conventions (geographic names) states that: "When a widely accepted English name, in a modern context, exists for a place, we should use it. This often will be a local name, or one of them; but not always." All modern Malta-based sources use the spelling "Luqa": see Luqa Local Council, Malta International Airport, St. Ignatius College Primary School Luqa, and so on. I did not use {{db-move}} because some of the recent edits to Luqa might need to be retained under GFDL, thus the request for the history merge. Karl80 (talk) 16:09, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks to Anthony Appleyard for the merge! Karl80 (talk) 15:22, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
