Talk:Lust for Life (Iggy Pop song)

Interpol's "Say Hello to the Angels" uses a similar riff in parts, and I believe there have been other songs, though none of these are as close as "Are you gonna be my girl?"--DCo1 02:52, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

only the drum beat on PDA is at all similar the guitar riff it completely different. --80.41.28.81 21:40, 23 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

It just occurred to me that the drum intro on "Car Jamming" by The Clash is also very similar to the opening of "Lust For Life." 24.6.66.193 10:59, 27 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Van Gogh Reference?

edit

Irving Stone wrote an historical novel, Lust for Life, about the life of Van Gogh. Is the line "Of course I've had it in the ear before" an allusion to Van Gogh's slicing off his own ear? 45750born (talk) 18:17, 16 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Vandellas

edit

As well as the similarity between the drum beat for "Lust for Life" and Martha & The Vandellas "I'm Ready for Love", they also share a similarity in the delivery of the lyric: Compare Iggy singing "about something called love, yeah something called love" with Martha singing " I'm ready for love, I'm truly ready for love". --Design (talk) 06:29, 12 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Lust for Life (Iggy Pop song)Lust for Life (song) – The Iggy Pop song has existed for 40+ years, has been used in numerous films, tv shows, and tv commercials, and is regarded as iconic. A new song by Lana Del Rey does not compare in terms of historical or cultural importance. This page move is not uncontroversial or merely technical. This should have been discussed first. I would argue that the Iggy Pop title is the main subject and should have preference. Either way, the matter should be discussed. - The Old JacobiteThe '45 14:40, 22 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
